I'm quite possibly the world's most terrible, horrible, awful blogger. Ever. Most of my updates are only to say that I'm going to update more. And then I don't.

Hi! I'm going to update more. Except I probably won't. Hi new friends? There are an awful lot of you all of a sudden; I'm not really sure why or what happened, but hi! If you want me to add you back, pls to be letting me know. Thanks.

I'm thinking about doing a 30 day meme or something. Except I don't like any of those that are currently going around, so I may make my own. Is that even allowed? Is one allowed to create one's own meme and if so is it a true meme or just something someone posted somewhere that no one is reading anyway? I have so much stuff to share that I'd easily fill up 30 days, except that it's all half-arsed. Half a fanmix here, half a picspam (or 10) there. Some icons or my thoughts on yaoi.

Also, I have way too much fandom to be catching up with. And a job and a husband and a toddler. But this is all okay b/c I can just skip sleep. Sleep is for the weak.

Probably v. spoilerly for some and not for others:

Yes, I'm late to the party. Way late. But OMG am I ready to party now. There is so much I could say about this show but instead I'm just going to leave it at this:

Perfect. Yes, I know it has its flaws according to some (not enough female characters, too much homoerotic suggestion, not enough homoerotic suggestion, etc., etc.). But IDC! I love it. I love everything about it and everyone who has anything to do with it.

I also ship everything. From the classic Holmes/Watson to my new OT3 (Sherlock/John/Lestrade) to Lestrade/The Whole Universe to Mycroft and his umbrella. And everything in between. Gen, slash, het, gender!bender, IDK. If it exists in this fandom, I WILL SHIP IT OMFG!

In other words and without the tl;dr: GIVE THEE THOU RECS!

I feel like this series is finally coming into its own. Yes, they're still using the American scripts and I think that is a problem, but it's much more fluid this time around then it was for series one and two.

Some observations:

I'm happy that they're not glossing over Alesha's rape. More often than not, my personal fanon is that it never happened, but that is only b/c of how badly the initial storyline was mangled.

I'm not really sure that I still ship James/Alesha, but I certainly don't ship anything else. Except Ronnie/The Whole Universe (or just Ronnie/Me, I'm not picky). But back to James and Alesha, or maybe more specifically just James. He's always been a bit of a bastard, but more so this time around. Sure, he has his moments of clarity and kindness, esp. re: his relationship to Alesha, but he's so obnoxiously obtuse at times that I fail to understand how the man functions.

And one last thing (at least for Team Order): I thought George's comment about Alesha's 'thing' was horribly offensive. Not so much the context, but that he called it that instead of calling a spade a spade. She was raped. Say she was raped. You're a big boy, talk like one. The end.

As for Team Law . . . meh. I want to squish Ronnie forever and ever (see above) and Natalie is my new girl crush (esp. after she told off that bigoted father in last week's episode) but that is all I really have to say about Team Law. I wish I could love Jamie Bamber's DS Devlin, b/c I love Bamber, but he leaves me feeling cold. He does have great facial expressions and reactions though.

The guesties are great too. Rupert Graves and Anna Chancellor in particular, as I'm desperately in love with both of them in everything they do.

I'm now two episodes behind on Spooks and plan to get caught up soon (after I finish this post, actually) but so far I'm not too terribly impressed. My observations from the first three episodes are as follows:

I knew Ros dying was on the menu but I was still really, really, desperately unhappy about it. Ros was like The Original BAMF and even when she wasn't technically HBIC she was still HBIC.

Lucas, WTF. IDGI. And it really does not fit w/what we know about his backstory. My pet crack theory is that after seven years in prison (or was it eight? See, IDEK now, thanks) he's just really, really horny, which is why he has so much emo with the ladies. Also, that whole 'blah blah blah . . . John' bit at the end of 9.01 didn't do it for me. Sorry, Beeb. I'm a veteran of JJVerse, so you're going to have to do better than that if you want my mind to, you know, be blown.

As for the new young Turks, I like Beth. I really, really like Beth. IDK why. Dimitri has been horribly underused so far. Tariq (I know he's not new) is still just as squishable as he was last series, but I need MOAR Tariq. And Maya annoys me. A lot. But I think I'm more annoyed by LucasJohn Lucas when he is around her than I am by her. Laila Rouass is ridiculously pretty though so I don't mind her scenes too much.

Harry is a bastard. I have a love/hate relationship with the new Home Sec. In one episode I want to squish him and in the next I want to snap his neck. IDK. Ruth is still awesome. Harry is still a bastard. I was really not pleased by the whole Nicholas Blake thing -- I really wanted him to be a good guy. Peter Firth played the fuck out of that scene in 9.01. That doesn't mean that Harry isn't still a bastard, b/c he is. A bastard. A big one.

I really don't have a lot to say about this one since I've not managed to really get into it. Dave (the character) is a total git and not v. likeable at all. Rita is clearly a liar, but I'm having a hard time caring that she lied if only b/c there are really only two people in her life that her lies had an impact on that I actually like (Stuart and Rebecca/Lucie). The children aren't clearly drawn enough to make me care, except as a mother I feel for them and would personally come back from the ever after and haunt the fuck out of my husband if he treated our child as callously and nonchalantly as Dave is treating his and Rita's.

A lot of the fangirl comments on the interwebs about Dave Tennant are making me LOLOLFOREVER. I think my favourite was one that excused all of Dave's (again, the character) behaviour by placing the blame over the breakdown of his relationship with Lucie squarely on her 15 year old shoulders. Really? REALLY?

LOL . . . No.

Also, unlike a lot of the comments I've seen, I've not been convinced yet that Rita and Stuart ever had it off after Rebecca/Lucie was born. Rita is a liar, yes, but I'm not sure she was a cheater too. And she was perfectly up-front with Stuart about what she wanted from him -- he said as much. He didn't know about the other kids so I think the preview for next Sunday's episode was deliberately misleading. I can see Dave reading into things and I can see him thinking the worst (both b/c he's had a hell of a shock and b/c he's probably trying to justify his own feelings toward Sarah).

I can see Stuart making a grab for Rebecca/Lucie as her biological father. He seemed to be angling for information toward the end of their meeting when he asked about the legal arrangements and whether or not Dave had signed anything. Also, the preview hints v. vaguely at this. Unless Dave is an even bigger douche bag than I already think he is, I can't see why he would think it is okay to leave Lucie with Stuart and just drive away unless some sort of transfer or legal arrangements have been agreed upon.

And in case all of this rambling about the sub-plot of the mini did not make it clear to everyone: I'm not remotely interested in the romantic bits. Also, as much as I'm bitching about the characters here, I have to say that I'm loving (some of) the actors. Especially Tennant (the character is a douche, he is not), the young actress that plays Rebecca/Lucie and Rupert Graves (Graves is v. good at characters that have the appearance of likeability but are really just bastards in disguise, so I'm still guessing about Stuart but like him so far).

Everything else about it is blah and bland. Also, I apparently had more to say on the matter than I originally believed.

I still have Whitechapel to start, the new David Morrissey thing (Thorne) and some old Wallander to dig up (thanks, Masterpiece Mystery, as if I don't have enough going on in my life atm). Is there something else I'm missing, flist? What should I be watching that I'm not?

I'm also thinking about doing an interest-request icon type thing. Anyone want some icons? You know you want some icons . . .
