Yesterday around 4:16 PM, my dad called asking if I've been receiving the emails about the upcoming earthquakes and the predictions that have been made of the end of the world. I did receive some mails, but thought nothing of it cause there have been so many emails of the same nature before. And I remembered it said after the 15th, and it was only April 14 (haha smart ass) My dad said "well, just pray the rosary and stay in a safe place". I went back to work forgetting about the call until
crazy_c sent me a text about Sister Reodica and her prediction of an intensity 9 earthquake that would happen at 5 PM. Hmmm it's all coming back. I quickly looked at my watch 4:45. Uhh Ohh 15 minutes to go. Apparently I wasn't the only who received the text, and according to the grapevine some people were even sent home from work. So the scaredy cat in me begin thinking of where I could possible go in times of an earthquake. Our floor was full of computers, and the building is pretty old. (the end is near) Haha like in a movie I couldn't think straight anymore so many scenarios were popping up in my head. I don't know whether to laugh or just prepare. I could hear people around me checking on their families (you can never be too sure)(while still working). My officemate even said " Guys don't panic we have 15 minutes to go, take your time". Hahaha So I changed into my flats (well you can't possibly run in heels) I hurriedly rushed the proposal I was doing, shut down the pc and called
xyneeee. She hadn't received any text, so I quickly oriented her as it was nearing 5PM. We started talking of where to go, what to bring down. (I'm on the 6th floor, she's in the 22nd). I was deliberating if I should beat the clock and go down already (but you're never safe in an elevator) So we waited it out. 4:59 Hmmm the longest minute of the day ( to think Accenture's time is 10 minutes advance so at that time it was 5 in their world). tic toc tic toc tic..... well nothing happened as expected. =) So i packed my bags and headed to the mall, still in my flats.
I know it's pretty stupid/foolish to believe, or even waste time worrying about such things. Yes if it's your time, its your time. But I guess its better to be safe then sorry. The ones who started the email/text are evil for making people worry and crazy. Yes you can never predict an earthquake or where its even gonna hit. But it does make me realize that at anytime, you just have to be ready. It made me think of what can, will we do if we are given a specific time for the end of our lives? I feel for the people who are given so and so months and years to live. How do you cram everything you want and need to do in your timeline.
Lesson from yesterday's bruhahaha, start reading safety tips on earthquakes (haha). (we must go under tables) nor must we live according to people's predictions.
