More Desiderata Valley!
This time the Contrary and Mole families.
Contrary
Opal and Edward Contrary are the only married couple in Desiderata Valley who seem to have a good relationship. They've got two bolts, the same aspiration and wants, and work in the same career. Unfortunately, their son Rick can't stand either of them. He thinks they're a couple of dorks, all they care about is each other and stupid fish and they don't UNDERSTAND HIM. His mother picked out the wallpaper in his room (obviously), she thought it'd fit him because Rick 'likes angry things'. GOD.
They're always bothering him about his video games, too, having the nerve to call it a waste of time. He just wants to be left alone, dammit!
Rick usually takes out his frustration on other kids. It doesn't earn him a lot of friends.
But who can blame him, when his parents insist on bringing him along on their stupid, useless outings, consisting of stupid, useless activities like shopping clothes.
Clothes for his mother, no less!
No wonder he's frustrated, right?
All of their friends are dorks, too.
And Desiderata Valley is such a small, boring place. Rick wishes he lived in the city.
Every now and then, he takes advantage of the New Uberhoodia Student Exchange Program, but he never really "clicks" with anyone.
Meanwhile, Edward and Opal are trying for another baby, but they're not as young as they once were, and they realize their chances aren't very high. They would never admit it, even to each other, but one reason they want another child is to make up for whatever they did wrong with Rick, and get it right this time.
Opal's trying to grow a small garden in her spare time, but between work and worrying about Rick, she hasn't gotten much done yet.
At least Rick has Violet, his BFF since, like... forever. Her parents are also friends with his parents, although he has no idea why. They're so much cooler than his parents.
They don't awkwardly make out in front of Violet all the time, for one! And they have a whole room with a bar and a pool table! Rick wishes he had a pool table.
Yep. Sure sucks to be Rick.

Mole
John Mole is a loner. A spy.
And despite being rather popular among the ladies, he's not very good at interacting with them.
Sure, he's got an active social life.
Since he knows the whole neighbourhood, he gets invited on various outings all the time.
Meeting all sorts of interesting people on his way.
But they're all just acquaintances, never friends, never ever close friends.
A good spy keeps his distance.
John always finds ways to keep himself entertained in his own company. It's not a problem. Of course not.
He just sometimes wonders if it's worth it.
