This has been such a nice weekend.
Tuesday was mine and Mark's 5 year anniversary. Jeez. Where has the time gone? I can't even believe it. Unfortunately he had to work and I had to study for school, etc. So we didn't really do anything during the week.
On Friday however, after I got out of class, I got all dressed up in a new dress that I had bought a few weeks ago, and Mark and I headed to St. Augustine for the night. We had such a nice drive. It was a beautiful night. I wanted to try and find this place that my parents had taken me to for dinner, but all I knew about it was that they served Cuban food. I didn't know the location, name of the restaurant, etc. Needless to say we didn't find it. We ended up eating at a Japanese steak house called Yamato (or maybe Yamata? I can't remember...), I believe. It was really nice. I hadn't eaten at a Japanese restaurant at the hibachi grill for a LONG time. I forgot how much I love it. Usually the hibachi grills are so full that we just end up getting a table and I order tempura, sushi, or udon.
After dinner we took a ride closer the the water. We ended up walking down a pathway and sitting on the ledge while looking at the stars. We talked about space/astronomy a lot. It always amazes me to see all of the things that he can fit into that brain of his. He knows things that I couldn't even touch on. We then went and walked down the pier and sat on one of the benches furthering our discussion.
Overall we had such a great night. <3
Yesterday I got the apartment all clean. I also watched the Gator game. WE WON~! Haha. You know, I wish I could see a bunch of the people from high school that used to always give me shit about FSU being better. Seriously. From like elementary school to high school, I feel like Brady and I were the only Gator fans. We always got massive amounts of shit because FSU was always a better football team. And now it's the other way around. UF was always a better college, no doubt about that, but now we have a kickass football team too! I just wish I could rub it in Rebecca Raciappa's face. Actually, I take some of that back. I would much rather have them be a great team now, WHILE I'M ATTENDING UF. :D It's just so great to be a Florida Gator. <3
Anyways, dady called me yesterday to let me know that one of the cows died. Pop Pop and Grandma had called me like 2 weeks ago asking me the gestation length of a cow (which is around 280 days I think. I know it's roughly 9 months). They told me that it had been 10 months since she had been bred. That didn't sit right with me. That definitely made me think something was wrong. So I called dad, but he told me that they weren't positive about the day she was bred and he didn't think that it had been that long. Anyways, she hadn't shown any signs, nothing had passed or even tried to pass, and she wasn't acting like she was in pain either. Well yesterday she finally tried to pass it, but after only a few tries she layed down and soon after, stopped breathing. We believe that the calf must've died inside and she couldn't pass it. They shoudlv'e called Dr. Mounger, because he could've just reached in and pulled out the calf. The only thing is we don't know how long the fetus was dead. If it had been dead for a long time, then it could've been rotting inside her, which means that it would've made her sick too. If it had just recently died after the 9 months, maybe we could've pulled it out and saved it.
This is really kind of schoking. My parents have been doing this for 25 years. Even though they are small time city farmers, they've never had anything like this happen to them. I feel bad for dad though. We spent the money to get her bred, aren't getting a baby, aren't getting meat from the cow, and now have to spend more money to buy another cow. :\ It's just a sad story all around. We've had that cow for awhile. That was only her third pregnancy too.
Anyways, I guess that's all for now. I think Krystal is going to come over later and watch last week's Eureka with me. I need to get osme Calc HW done. I just don't have the motivation. :P I'll do it...
