Any takers?

I had a prenatal check-up yesterday (33 wks) and all is well. I've gained 35 pounds so far and I still have 7 weeks left! I quit working out way too early on this one and have eaten way too much chocolate! Some days I feel like I'm going to reinact a scene from Alien. Moira has taken to pushing straight out and I feel my skin stretch to its ( Read more... )

I already made my guess of the 9th due to the reasons you've already stated. We'll see.

I wish I had as few stretch marks as you. I am carrying this boy high and have this crazy pattern on marks all around my belly button. (Well what's left on my belly button, which isn't much (it actually sticks out) and freaks my husband out.) Do your hips/pelvis get really painful at this stage. I have this spot on the lower left side of my back at my hip bone that kills me. It hurts so much. And I'm walking like a freak. Been that way for a while now. So far I think I've gained about 37 pounds.

When we were at Baby Waves the tech estimated the baby's weight to be just under 4 lbs. (3 lbs 13 oz to be exact). Supposedly at 30 weeks, we are supposed to be at about 3 lbs so I don't know what to think. I'll wait to see what the real experts say at 34 weeks when the doctor orders another sono.

It's such a strange pain; and I cannot meditate past it like most other pain. I use hot pads when it gets to persistent which helps alleviate it and have started taking Tylenol too. (I rely on the heat pad thing so much, I'm planning to bring it to Shelly's.)

I had a similar problem when I was pregnant with Erin. I think I actually had sciatica. Does your pain radiate down your legs, or does it stay in your back? I would get the pain in my back, just above my hip, and then it would shoot down my leg. It's fairly common, especially in the third trimester. From what I've read, if it's just a backpain, it's most likely hormones and posture associated with being pregnant. Have you talked to your doctor about it?
With this one, the pain is actually in the pubic region. That's where my hernia pops out and it has been painful lately, especially with the weight gain. I sometimes have a hard time walking or even getting up due to the shooting pains.

Did you know Paula & I have the same doctor? He's the coolest, and I was happy to know she has him because I know she's in good hands.

I bet you did have sciatica. My sciatica with both kids started in the third trimester & didn't go away until a month or more after. I need to go to the chiropractor about it this time, because I'm still having numbness & tingling down my leg.

Paula, I have heard there are chiropractors who specialize in pregnant women. I don't know why I didn't try to find one (okay, I do know why, and I bet you'd have the same reason - too busy working & taking care of child #1).

Our doc is pretty cool. When I told Rich about it, he asked how you had found him. I, of course, had meant to ask about that, but failed to. How'd you come across the doc?

Huh. I've never considered prenatal chiropractic services. I've thought about prenatal massage. While I was pregnant with Ella, the Bank had a woman that came in to provide 10-minute neck and upper back massages for $10. I took advantage of these whenever they were offered. They were so wonderful. Now money's kind of tight; and considering it's just that one spot that's driving me crazy, I don't really want to spend the cash on anything that seems like a luxury. Besides, as you astutely pointed out, there just isn't any time.

So far I've been lucky. It's not radiating down, but stays pretty well in the one location. And drives me absolutely crazy. I remember having the same pain with Ella as well. So I'm not too surprised to have it again. I just didn;t remember it being this bad. I'm positive that it has to be related to my poor posture and lack of exercise. I have a Pregnancy Yoga deck that I need to start working through in the hope that it will help. I've been having a lot of the pubic pain as well. Are you still getting down on the floor with Erin? I'm going to have to stop with Ella. If I don't sit on at least a pillow (or something else with give) and I try to get back up, the pain in my hips and pubic is so bad it takes my breathe away and brings me close to tears.

The walking is painful etc. Oh, the joys of pregnancy. No really. I love being pregnant and have a remarkably easy time; but this last trimester of pain is... well painful.

I can still get down on the floor with Erin. I have the most pain when I've been laying down and I try to sit/stand up or when I roll over in bed. It seems like if I lay down for an extended period then try to stand up, everything has to resettle and readjust. I usually take my first few steps doubled over before everything sorts out. I also have to sit down to put pants on because the act of lifting my leg to put it in the pants leg is painful. You're right, the joys of pregnancy!
