ITALY
So Basically I'm in Italy. I think I'm still jetlegged too....
BUT I really like Italy!
We started out in Lucca, this semi-small city and saw some wonderful things, such as the Guinigi tower:
And inside the Guinigi Tower...
And then we went to lovely Siena for dinner. Supposedly it has one of the prettiest squares ever.
And I had some wine! it wasn't as bad as the look on my face..really...
And then we ended up driving to Rome where we saw some wonderful things....
like the Trevi fountain
And the Spanish Steps
And the lovely Pantheon. the only reason it exists from Roman times is because it changed into a church. basically the people of medievel times broke apart every "pagan" thing to build the lovely churches that are all over.
And then the colloseum and the forum.
Which were looted to build this (especially the colloseum)
St Peters! Biggest Church ever! I was a little creeped out by all the statues of popes, but it was still quite impressive. And the Sisting Chapel in the Vatican Museum was pretty cool. But almost the highlight of my Vatican visit was seeing the hot guards.

And then lovely tourist shot of Linnea and I...
Rome is filled with lots of lovely fountains, which are powered by restored aqueducts and are very helpful by either drinking from them or doing this...
And finally, Linnea and I had an Asian Toursit moment by the river.
The best thing, however, about Rome was the Villa Borghese, the former home of a Catholic Cardinal who collected a lot of art, especially sculptures by Bernini, who is AMAZING. Coudln't take any pciture though.
And then also the food. we went to this restaurant that served whatever they felt like, so no menu, like a five course meal and they had a bunch of italian grandmas working in the back, and this guy who kept making us dip our meat to make sure we were enjoying it. It was GOOD.
And then we drove to Naples, and now we're staying in a hotel nearby. We went to pompeii and it was pretty cool, expecpt some of the best stuff, like the brothels, were closed...but oh well. Today we're going into Naples to see the museum with all the booty from Pompeii. Naples has the biggest Mafia family. My dad knew a guy who was friends with a MAfia son, and his car was stolen, he told the friend, and had it back in two hours.
