Long day... so tired... Ran down to the mall to get my glasses lense replaced, cause the ones with the anti-glare dealies were ready. Wow, I knew my eyesight was worse but walking around the mall for an hour with NO glasses? Sad. Especially as I was desperately trying to hunt down a mortar & pestle. I ended up talking to a lot of people, because I needed the help! So in a way it was kinda cool, though I was wandering from store to store blindly seeking that which noone carries. I think I circled the entire mall 3 or 4 times while I waited for my glasses. I ended up going an eerily empty block or two to Bed Bath & Beyond, who are my heroes because now I can grind Cleo's pills into a fine powder and put it into her food with no drama! Mwahahaha!
You'd be surprised at all the handy zombie fighting equipment you can find in the "Beyond" section, btw. Made the trip home MUCH easier. Lots of exercise today.
Some things that hadn't happened to me in a while as I walked around blindly at the mall... A lady pointed out my Medusa's Owl tattoo in delight and complemented me on it (squee!) another complemented my purse and got into a nice lengthy chat about me about 70s styles coming back etc, and a man hit on me. He even went the Eddie route and asked me out for a cup of coffee, which noone has ever done irl in my experience! He was from India as well I think, very pretty accent! I told him I was engaged, which didn't seem to discourage him much but he took my polite retreat well. I of course did not mention my fiancee was a woman, because the other lesbians on my flist probably know as well as I do that this is the opposite of help. In any case, it was kind of a good and bad day for my ego as it made me wonder if it was because I wasn't wearing the glasses I love so much. I also smelled strongly of jasmine today, as I had just washed and oiled my mala. This makes me happy, as it's a lovely and soothing smell, but I'd been concerned it may put people off who are sensitive to that sort of thing. Apparently not!
Also, got 3 things in the mail! Our 2 Ayurvedic recipe books (yay!) and the old Herpstat! Remember when it shorted out forever ago? Well, http://spyderrobotics.com/ just fixed it! The customer service is awesome, to go so out of his way to take care of this for me. It was a shorted out fuse -probably because of the crappy electricity in our apartment, see this is why we use surge protectors for ALL of our outlets now- and it has been replaced, tested, and sent back for just the price of shipping. :) I'm so pleased, I shall link to Spyder on Blue Gorgon and post a Good Guy dealie on Fauna soon as I am functional to think again... because yeah, tired.

I like these kinds of memes, cause icons and titles are always the first thing I notice about an LJ and I love knowing the reasons behind them. Here's mine.
My username is medusasowl because the barn owl is a powerful personal totem symbol for me, always has been, not to mention just a beautiful animal in the first place. Also, I am obsessed with Medusa, the history, the symbolism, the visuals, everything about her. She was a priestess of Athena before the transformation according to some stories, and was an aspect of Athena in even more ancient beliefs, and is therefore also connected with owls. So, I've dubbed myself Medusa's Owl. Thats why the often missed 's' is in there, it is indeed possessive, like Athena's or Lakshmi's owls. The humble devotee and perhaps messenger, in a way. And now I feel guilty for not having worked on the novel in so long. :P But Medusa is beautiful, a victim, and has long gotten the short end of the stick. I am the Lorax, I speak for the Gorgons!
My journal is titled "Owl's Soapbox and Sanctuary" because isn't that more or less what an LJ is?
My subtitle is "Nature makes a Brahmin of me presently.~ Ralph Waldo Emerson" because I adore that quote and it suits. I love a lot of Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes.
My friends page is called "A few Owls short of a Parliament" because a parliament is what a group of owls is called, and we're all a little crazy aren't we? ;)
