Daphne is at the vet and just got out of surgery, and we won't get her back until tomorrow. :( Gah, poor baby... We had to use our AmEx card *wince* to cover it, and thank you so much to the sweet folks contributing by getting items from
Blue Gorgon! Every bit helps! Thank you! This has been a hellish month between rent, vet, and car dramas. In fact, once Daphne's situated Amarin's car will likely be retired till further notice. Back to the Phoenix bus system* and taxis. But the second time I went in, after Daphne was out of surgery, to bring in her meds so we didn't have to pay for new ones (Ugh, must stop talking about money, it's making me sick. :P) they let me hold and comfort her before I left her overnight. Poor sweetie, all drugged and shaved and pitiful... she cuddled in my lap for a good 15 minutes. Then they showed me the stone. O.o Holy crap! It's the size of a robin's egg! It seriously looks like a slightly green river stone or something, with some crystals on it that took up her whole itty bitty bladder... I wish I could have gotten a picture, but they needed to send it to the lab. Otherwise we could have kept it. It's huge for a HUMAN let alone a tiny Daphne! And it was growing, so it's a good thing it came out!! Her recovery is good so far except for a slightly high temperature and of course not wanting to eat. Poor baby... they do take good care of her over there though.
Sooo, yeah. Distraction time!
If anybody on my flist is on Netflix and want to share movie ratings,
please click here! We don't have cable or anything (just 3 working channels, really. maybe 5 with the antennae) so Netflix is one of our other little therapies. Even if we have very different taste in flicks, I'm interested in seeing your ratings. Our ratings vary with mood a lot, either a movie catches us at the right time or it doesn't... or it's genuinely awesome/awful. Usually somewhere inbetween. Oh, and also I came across this site the other day with handy cultural tidbits! Some of which I knew and some of which I didn't. The thumb wagging was a new one to me.
Bollywhat! Also, Peta's true colors:
21 counts of animal cruelty. I've been trying to avoid newsy stuff lately for my own sanity, but I had to share this one. I hate how Peta takes advantage of well meaning animal lovers who don't know about their more bizarre and hateful agendas.
Peta thinks healthy animals are better off dead than as pets. Ethical treatment my ass.
They also hate reptiles. The less people pay attention to and fall for their propaganda the better.
*System is a misnomer. It's really more of a discombobulation.
