Book help:
Okay preternatural romance folks, I've just started Christine Feehan's Carpathian series (Dark Prince), and I want to throw the damn thing across the room. No, really. One disk in, and Main Male Character constantly refers to the Main Female Character as 'his', chides her for 'disobeying' him, has nearly killed another male who touched her, and I can't even count how many times she has said NO, and main male character has completely disregarded her (emotionally -and- physically). I'm willing to keep reading if things change later on somewhere (in fact, I would love to see main female character totally stand up for herself and give main male character hell) but I have a feeling that this is just going to end up a big mess of Stalker Stockholm Syndrome.
Anybody know what happens? Should I just stop now before I lose faith in humanity? Am I destined to just have to explain to library patrons that I don't read any romance?
