Explored the parallel universe of the Chinese cyberrealm today. There's this thing known as Youku which seems to be an analogue to YouTube, and god, I could find Portishead!
Visited this grand-uncle of mine in the countryside. It's almost a yearly routine which always ends with my aunt losing her patience and yelling agitatedly at him. He's now senile, complains of an imaginary constipation and refuses to wash himself. And he walks straight up to people, having no concept of personal space.
After the visit I biked a little around the countryside. It was awesome, although bumpy dirt tracks + bicycle = aching ride.
I'm leaving this city tomorrow, for another where the acrid odour of sour pickles hangs in the air, but at least they speak a language I understand there. Everytime I get lost in a cloud of incomprehension when I'm in this locality, but fortunately this time my cousin's got relations from Australia visiting, and alas, now it's my turn to see puzzled faces.
Now that my social life has become largely dependent on Facebook, every trip to China seems interminable.
