Today was probably the worst day out of all of the exam days, there were 3 exams today. PATH 108 (Pathophysiology 1), MLIE 108 (Medico-legal 1) and COMM 108 (Communications 1).
For PATH 108 (Pathophysiology 1) it was a 65 question final examination, which I think I did pretty well in, considering I stayed up all night studying it.
For MLIE 108 (Medico-legal 1) it was a 75 question final examination, which the mark I got back today. 98% on the examination and a final course mark of 95% (A+). I had a 93% on a group presentation on the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), which being in a position of a health & safety specialist, I did very well on.
For COMM 108 (Communications 1) it was a 4-minute dramatic presentation on conflict-resolution and active listening. In my group was Kevin Prasad and Ashley Deleewu, we put together our presentation after we practiced our lifting (Stair-chair - #42) in the hallway, going up and down 14 stairs with 160lbs twice. For our presentation we did a Fire Services/Emergency Medical Services conflict in which the firefighter wanted to control patient care and did not allow the paramedic to preform necessary tasks that a paramedic should. For that examination our group got a 87%.
Tonight, I had the oppourtunity to complete my HBCI 108 (Human Behaviour & Crisis Intervention 1) Bias Research Assignment. I only got ~2000 words while others in my class got in excess of 5000. I needed to finish it tonight as I was informed that it was due last week. I was under the assumption it was due this week so I thought I had a week to complete it.
For the rest of the night I will be studying for my PCTH 108 (Patient Care-Theory 1) examination, this exam is one of the bigger exams for this program. Between this class and PCLB 108 (Patient Care-Practical Lab 1), these are the most important classes for this program. Although I am not concerned with this examination because I believe that logical thought processes can get me through it, I still need to brush up on my calculations for Tidal Volume, proper Suctioning Pressures for both V-Vac and Electronic Suction, the complete pathway (upper, lower & circulatory) that an oxygen molecule takes to things like the "6 P's after immobilization" being Pain, Palor, Perithesis (Pins & Needles), Paralysis, Pressure and Pulse.
I am however, very concerned with my PCLB 108 (Patient Care-Partical Lab 1) final examinations, more specifically the lifting qualifications. We are required to lift 160 lbs (~80kg) up & down 14 steps of stairs twice on the #42 Stair Chair. We also are required to lift 160 lbs/~80kg utilizing the Fore/Aft lift to a #9 Stretcher and then on to a lift assist (#35A) stretcher and then onto our mock ambulance set-up. My main concern is my assigned partner, during a trail run today, she had trouble lifting 120lbs(~60kg) and it came to a point where *I* had to take on extra weight to stabilize our patient.
Anyways, time to study,
