This post triggered by the latest entry in the FPW guestbook, thanks Rose :-)
One of the beliefs seemingly held by attendees of RIAT is that they are directly contributing to a charity by going along to the Rogues International Arms Trading activity at Fairford.
Their stupidity is almost beyond belief until one examines the way the RAFBF exploits the Benevolent Fund's good name by setting up a Limited Trading Company with a name very similar to its own.
In their own words, the primary role of RAFBFE is to :-
" Promote the recruitment and efficiency of the Royal Air Force ".
Now, we have seen Wartrose make the claim that it is proud to sponsor RIAT as it is nothing more than a charity fundraiser.
I apologise for stating the obvious to those here who are awake.....but in order that you may ' go equipped' in the battle against Wartrose and the thousands of cabbages who queue up to hand money to RAFBFE I offer you the above ammunition in the hope that it may come in useful.
Wartrose are paying for the priviledge of being seen to support a Ltd. Co. which lists one of its main priorities as promoting the ' efficiency' of the RAF.
RAFBFE claim to have covenanted their annual ' profit' to the Benevolent Fund, this is all fine and lovely, but RAFBFE do not publicise or declare any annual profit that we know about and their accounts are hidden in the RAFBF's annual financial statement.
RAFBFE may pay one penny a year to the RAFBF, they may pay nothing, they may be in a debt situation.
In any event, the least we can do is dispel the myth that RIAT is a charity event.
Any volunteers to write to the charities commission and complain about RIAT conning ticket purchasers into believing it is a charity event, it was mentioned at Aldermaston but the more the merrier etc ?
Kate.
