Still Alive

Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. It's been awhile but things have been crazy over here. But, for the most part it's been a good crazy.

Work has been hellish. There is one doctor that is there that I just don't get along with. I'm trying I swear, but I can't. When you write discharge instructions and prescriptions BEFORE you see the patient, you have predjuices when you walk in the room. Not cool. There have been so many people with serious conditions that have went untreated because of that doctor, if you can even call him that. I know that doctor's go through a hell of a lot more school than nurses do, but at times I feel I can do a damn better job than he can. Ok, enough complaining.

I found a new doctor for my MS. He's in downtown Detroit which doesn't excite me, but he really seems to know what's going on. He only sees MS patients. He said he's 99% sure that's what were dealing with but since there is no test for this, you have to rule everything else out for the diagnosis. We are currently in the process of doing just that. I'm having a lot of testing done in May but regardless treatment is going to remain the same. He also said that I'm not normal (go figure right?). For the way my case is presenting, in theory, I should be a 35-40 year old black male. Yeah, not really my description. Optic neuritis should also affect both eyes together, not one eye only. And the fact that both eyes were affected at different times within about 4 months is also rare. In fact, he said my case is about 1 out of 1000. I always tell my patients that if they are going to do something to do it right but damn! This shouldn't be subject to that rule. On the good note, he has personally dealt with a younger white female that has had bilateral optic neuritis. I feel good about this now. Well, as good as can be felt. I think I'm having another episode though. My left ear is all screwy right now. But I'm staying positive. I can beat this, and I will.

I'm back doing the Pampered Chef thing again. I had a pretty decent show 2 weeks ago. So if anyone out there wants to have a show or do a catalog party, let me know!

School is going very well right now. I got a 3.8 in my clinical. I was pretty excited about that. I start my pediatric rotation next week. It's in downtown Detroit at Children's Hospital. Not looking forward to the drive, but I know that I'll get a good experience. I've passed all my tests thus far. I have my second test in my really hard class next week.

I chopped my hair off today. We chopped off more than what's on my head. My hair was mid back length or so, now it's above my shoulders. And it's got some very pretty highlights in it. Blond, caramel and a dark brown all over. It looks very natural and very nice. And I won't have to do it every morning!

Well, there's my update for you all. More coming, on a more consistant level, I promise
