Lessons learned?

Apparently, in the apartment, one should not run the microwave, toaster oven, and kettle all at the same time. This results in what is called a "blown fuse", maybe potentially worse by the fact that normally this could be solved by simply going down to the fuse box and flicking a switch. Alas! The fuse box is in the downstairs apartment, which means we cannot access it. And our landlord? The one who owns the house and lives in the apartment? Has decided to be M.I.A. So no electricity.

This would not be so bad! Except this is an old house? Or something? And the blown fuse is not just for the kitchen (which, yes, includes the fridge, so we're debating whether it's better to just not touch the thing and hope everything stays cold long enough for us to get the power back on, or to go and try to eat everything in the fridge and freezer before it all goes bad). It is apparently connected to our bathroom (so we have hot water and heating, but no lights), no lights/electricity in my bedroom, and no lights and electricity in Emilie's room.

Or, considering where we live, it gets dark about 4:30, and so we resort to using flashlights by 5.

And! As we effectively have no electricity in our apartment at all, anywhere whatsoever, that means no internet, no phone landline, no television, no PS3 (and Brotherhood is out tomorrow, NOOOOOOOO). I'm at a library right now to recharge my cellphone and computer and check my emails, and then I have to go buy dinner because, no matter how determined I was to bake a sheppard's pie tonight, it seems that will not be happening.

Sigh.

Also: I'm so behind in NaNoWriMo it's sad, and this? Is really not helping. At all. SLDKFEHTLSJDHFKASKJLF.

Anyone know what happened on the Amazing Race last night? I started watching it, and then... well. The above. And parents were in Niagra Falls for their anniversary, so they don't know, either. Sob.
