shiny happy fun dream time

I recently learned that kriket24 has repetitive dreams, so this one is for her.

I was in a group of people, who were more or less understood to be Scots impersonators, and someone was taking our land.  "Our land" was the property on the old house where I grew up.  Well, there was supposedly this real threat to this troupe of fake Scots, and suddenly everyone was taking the whole thing seriously.  Someone was doing magic and magicking up these heraldic costumes for everyone, and I was running around keeping an eye on the advancing enemy through various windows of the house/castle, and trying to find someone to blow a horn (a la Helm's Deep) to send a message to the invaders.  Everyone laughed at me b/c they were all in their costumes and holding swords and I wasn't yet.  I figured the magic armorers just hadn't gotten to me yet, but no.

Then someone magicked me into a dog.

I've never minded being a dog, really.  It was a serious career ambition when I was about 4.  Do kids who grow up with cats want to be cats when they grow up?  Or do cats not manage to be that cool?  Anyways, now I was the laughingstock of the Scots and as they filed from the kitchen up the stairs to the tower/my parents' bedroom to take their battle positions, I slipped to the back of the line and down the stairs to the basement.  There were people down there, and I didn't want to get caught as shirking the battle, so I came back upstairs and into the sunroom.  It was night, and I saw what I understood to be a hunt for buried treasure going on right behind the treeline in the backyard.  Apparently they hadn't wanted to tell me about it b/c it was on the property and they figured I'd be able to make some sort of claim on it.  But as far as I know, dogs can't hire lawyers, so here I was without opposable thumbs, watching them dig up my backyard.

I decided to had to get out of there and went back down to the basement, where I was suddenly two-legged again, and found another dog.  I couldn't tell if it was a human/dog or just a plain dog, but we could communicate and she seemed to be unhappy with her situation, so we decided to escape together.  I put on my Camp Happy Jesus boots and she told me that her name was Flipper or something b/c when she slept she covered her face with her back paws.  It then occurred to me that it was cold out and I was human at the time, so I grabbed a clean throw rug to use as a blanket for myself b/c I figured we'd be camping out.  As we came out the basement door, we found the Scots sitting around a campfire in the front yard.  The enemy must not have been very close, b/c they found time to make fun of me as I walked away and told me to guard the house/castle well.  Well, for whatever reason, as soon as I was out of wight, I suddenly had four legs again, and the other dog and I ran away....

to a posh hotel!  I was abruptly ejected from my first-person consciousness, as the dog I had once been turned into an Asian woman in front of my eyes.  Then the other dog did too and they proceeded to have kinky sex.*  I felt embarassed that apparently my unembodied consciousness was floating unnoticed in the room while they were getting it on.  But I watched anyway.  Then the one who had been the dog who wasn't me changed back into a dog and snuggled up on the bed, sure enough, covering up her face with her back paws.  The last thing I remember, I was falling asleep next to the other dog.  No word on my own status at the time.

*Note: I am at a loss to explain this chain of events and my own change of circumstances.  Despite the in-dream ridicule, I was quite enjoying being canine, and I'm never a voyeur in my sex dreams.  Not to mention that I have no particular thing for or against Asian women--I certainly do not think they are dogs in the metaphoric sense!-- so the whole thing is even wierder.  I remember quite clearly the nice feeling I had snuggling up against the dog at the end, and I do sleep with a stuffed dog to hug, so maybe I am just wishing I had a dog.  Or something.

cool, dreams, absurd
