Reasons I hate my hometown:
An editor-in-chief who ~3 times a year writes an incredibly bigoted anti-gay column
An editor-in-chief who gave a regular bigoted letter writer a regular column in which to express his bigotry.
A newspaper that gets almost all its stories off the wire and the ones it doesn't are inevitably about how awful--read: fat, criminal, fat, unemployed, fat, lazy, fat, irresponsible, fat, otherwise unhealthy, fat--the townspeople are.
A commission that concludes the answer to the heroin problem is more police instead of making the town less shitty so people aren't unhappy and desperate.
Even the tourists write letters to the editor saying what a terrible place it is.
But most of all, I hate that it has the potential to be a nice place to live and it's 100% its own fault that it continues to be so terrible.
