(no subject)
i'm going to mentor a kid from this school in gainesville that i guess is a charter school for underprivileged kids who aren't doing well in school or are "bad" or whatever and like hang out with her and do stuff to help her with the fcat (because the school scored an F or D the last few years). well, i don't know if it's so much that we are supposed to help them with the fcat so much as we are supposed to make them feel okay about it and like let them know that they actually can do well, because i think a lot of them have pretty much given up on being able to do anything schoolwise because they don't have role models or don't think they are capable, etc. the school goes from grades k-12. it would make me nervous to have a have a high school kid because i would feel like she thought i was dumb and annoying or she would think the whole process was stupid rather than super cool like a middle school or elementary school kid would, haha. anyway, i think it will be really fun and good and hopefully i'll actually help the girl and stuff. anyway, in other news, i should have done lots of school work tonight but i didn't...cool.
