MILESTONE!!!!

Feb 18, 2009 08:08

I have completed installation of hardwood floor in my little TV room/whatever room. Including the closet. I so rock. The walls, ceiling and trim are all installed so should be able to paint this week and then that room is DONE!!! GO ME

I admit I am behind my desired schedule but there is still forward movement and I guess that will have to be good enough. The dining room is next - it is mostly done just need to install the analgypta on the ceiling (after making some repairs to the ceiling- bleh) fix some odds and ends with the floor and install trim. I wanted all of this crap done by March 15 - significant date for me - but I guess I will be ok that it all isn't.

WHAT I HAVE DONE since I started this madness the second week in November

Had front door installed
Hardwood in living room
Repaired walls and painted living room including ceiling - wall repairs were minor and were from damage I caused, ceiling was a mess though
Painted bathroom, grouted and made some minor tile repairs/finished odds and ends
Fixed bathroom door - it closes and LOCKS AND doesn't stick
Installed missing trim in TV room - mostly cannibalized from upstairs, a few new pieces
Repaired walls - this was major
Installed hardwood

Still to do in little room:
Paint
Install ceiling fan
Install "built in" shelving

At this time I am NOT repairing the closet plaster. I am going to add some plaster anchors to stabilize it but I am not ripping it out and repairing. I realized when I was putting in the floor in there that the plaster is essentially mush and at some point someone installed cardboard over it to to hold it together. I decided I can live with that. I few anchors a coat of paint and it will be fine. AND it will be great to have somewhere to store the folding chairs and various and sundry entertaining accoutrement - oh yea and the vacuum

I bought this over the top, Regency style ceiling fan - it's not what I had in mind for that room but it makes me giggle every time I look at it. I need to stain the blades a dark color and get a shorter drop rod but otherwise it's ready to go. It was a special, clearance out of the box deal and I really love it.

The "Built ins" are heavy book cases with bamboo look trim and a general Asian kinda flair. I am painting them black and installing in the alcove with additional shelving in between them. I'll trim them out to look built in so it will be cool.

So here is weirdness, I was admiring my new hardwood floor this morning and noticed blood smears on the wall. I have no recollection of cutting myself - I don't know if I would notice, it seems every major project requires some kind of blood sacrifice - but really? Too high on the wall for kitties or dog. IDK
