Inoo Kei's 30th birthday celebration continues!

If some of you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen my vector art of Inoo for his 30th birthday! haha. But since his 30th is a very special birthday, I decided to do a translation of Inoo and Matsuoka-san's interview for Kaseifu no Mitazono! :)

As of now, I only translated the TV Navi Smile Kaseifu no Mitazono interview, but I'm also planning to translate the other ones.

I hope you enjoy reading! :)

Mitazono is back.

Matsuoka: I’m thankful for that. Everyone talked together about how we want to make “Kaseifu no Mitazono” as an interesting show. I thought it was okay to do even just one interesting season, but it has become a drama of connecting seasons. I feel nothing but happiness. But even if this drama gets another season, this will be the only 4th season. That’s why I want to give my all and properly film it as if it’s a drama of only one season.

Inoo: I’m also thankful to be able to appear in the 4th season as well after acting in the 3rd season. When I saw the staffs and Matsuoka-kun as Mitazono again after 1 year, I felt that Mitazono-san has finally come back. I also want my character, Murata Hikaru, to be someone who the viewers will anticipate to come back.

Matsuoka: While watching different news in this 1 year, I thought “what could have happened if Mitazono is here at a time like this?” Then when I read the script for episode 1, those topics were inserted here and there. The staffs and I were thinking the same thing after all. (laughs) I think it’s a story that viewers will understand, so I hope you enjoy it. “You’re curious about it after all. A-re?”

Inoo: There’s a lot of news that makes you feel weary. Mitazono-san slaying those issues might refresh the viewers. It’s a drama, but there are parts that are a bit nonfiction-like. Those parts are what makes this drama interesting.

This time, Iitoyo Marie joins as your new member.

Inoo: That’s right. I think the interactions between the housekeeper apprentices is different compared with last season, so I’d like people to look out for it.

Matsuoka: Mitazono doesn’t change no matter who she is with. In other words, “I try not to change.” If my core [as Mitazono] breaks, then the drama itself will be broken.

Inoo: Episode 1 just finished. Every time the guests are different, and the content also varies, but Mitazono-san doesn’t change. That’s why there’s a sense of relief. For example, no matter how much ruckus the family members in the drama make, it will become “Kaseifu no Mitazono” whenever Mitazono-san comes. That’s the drama’s charm. I think it would be great if the other cast besides Mitazono-san would show various changes in themselves.

Matsuoka: It’s Hikaru’s character who makes it easier for the viewers to watch Mitazono’s slightly mysterious aura. By letting Hikaru say and describe Mitazono’s mysterious behavior from his own mouth, the people will understand the joke. There’s a good balance among the characters this time as well.

Inoo: That’s right. It’s interesting to compare the existence of Hikaru, who is pure and unsuspicious for people around him, with the other characters who have hidden backgrounds. During the 3rd season, I learned a lot by watching Matsuoka-kun closely. I learned how to approach Matsuoka-kun’s role in the drama and how he concluded the completion of the series. This time, I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of side Matsuoka-kun will show us.

Please tell us which character or scene you like from the drama.

Matsuoka: I like the scene of Yo (Kimiko)-san’s character, who plays the role of Yoriko. She’s the chairman of the Musubi Housekeeping Agency. She doesn’t contradict Mitazono in any circumstances. I think Yoriko-san understands Mitazono the most.

Inoo: I also like the unique atmosphere of the Housekeeping Agency, so I’m looking forward to it.

Matsuoka: Mitazono is into housekeeping, but she can actually do anything. “Real estate agency Mitazono” who deals with a property that had an accident, or “Nurse Mitazono” who at first makes you feel weird when she examines you but eventually cures you without you realizing it.

Inoo: Ah~ Certainly.

Matsuoka: Those are what Mitazono can do because she never breaks off from her character. But I’ve already been a nurse twice in the past. (laughs) Inoo should make a spin-off called, “Housekeeper Hikaru-chan.” (laughs)

Inoo: Thank you very much! Hikaru-kun said in the last episode of the 3rd season that he is aiming to be an idol, but it hasn’t come true yet in the new season. I think it will be great if I could show more idol sense. (laughs)

What makes you remember your original spirit (beginning)?

Inoo: If it’s something recent, it was the time I went to see a stage play. The director of that stage play is Yoshinobu-san, who is the same director of my firs stage play, “Karafuto Ojisan.” It’s been a long time since we last met. We talked about the memories from that time. Rather than feeling nostalgic, I felt tense remembering my feelings from that time. It was as if I returned to my original spirit. I watch Yoshinobu-san’s stage plays once a year.

Matsuoka: When I meet the staffs from the agency who already knew me 31 years ago, my original spirit returns. It feels like coming back to your hometown and meeting your relatives. However, I don’t like the word “original spirit” that much. Rather than returning to my original spirit, it’s more like resetting. I properly reset myself, throw away the useless things, and increase my width of taking in new things. I keep it in mind to do that.

Note: Japanese and English are not my native language, so it might not be 100% accurate.
