I had several long talks with one of our joint friends a few weeks back, when I was trying to sort out the SS chapter where Sylar goes to a nightclub (and/or series of clubs) picking up guys and getting laid. I think you will find it comforting to know that good guys almost never approach women they don't know. They just don't. The only guys who do that are, just as you've noticed, kind of creepy

Oh, wanted to add that with both guys I made passes at, I just blurted it out. For one, I had already gone to his office many times chatting him up. One time I asked him if he had a girlfriend, he said no, and I asked if he wanted one. He said, "What?" and I said, "Do you want to date?" And he said, "Uh, no, I don't think so

You are so not a failure at dating. You're our wonderful DD.
I'd laugh about clarifying "if you DO NOT have a girlfriend" if it wasn't probably so darn true...
Exactly! No pressure for him.
Great thinking about incuding mentioning 'dating' in the info. I wouldn't have ever thought of that. Demanding a date, yes! That's what I'm doing...but, you know, the ball's in his court ;)
*nervous laugh* third date, yeah... (my first date with the ex was meeting the guy's parents so...it can only go up from there). I've never been on a 'dinner' or 'movie' date...not really any 'date', more so spending time with the other, which counts, just...different.
Your advice is carved in stone, my dear. I'm confident to say 'no', I've done it before. I suck at drinking alcohol, too!
I'm going to have to look up the First Wive's Syndrome now! Something to learn!
BTW, its nice to talk to you. We've all been busy bees.
I know I tend to mother hen you younger ladies, but no one gave me any advice on men AT ALL, and I suffered greatly for it. If I can prevent that in a friend, I will do everything I can to. Cause I love you

I think its awesome you would share your experiences and your wisdom. Unfortunately, Americans don't value their elders (not you - you're nowhere near that old - I mean our grandparents, etc.) yet our youth - kids my age - are dumb. And they're being brainwashed to be worse. I think anyone younger than your generation is probably in dire need of a mother hen

Well, mission accomplished. I gave him the note, with info, specifying 'date' and 'no current GF.' It wasn't that big a deal to do. I know people do it every day, though I can see how hard it is.
It's been...five hours of radio silence so I'll assume it was a no-go. Oh well.
