tonight there was lightning and thunderstorms in cambridge! this morning as we were biking to the hardware store i told kelsey how i couldn't wait for regularly-occurring thunderstorms--reason #238 that summer should come faster. reason #1 is so that i will be back in new york.
but, i'm absolutely enjoying my time in boston. to be completely honest, when i first got off the bus at south station i grimaced at the thought of spending any decent amount of time back here. all it took was one look at the puny MBTA subway map to remind myself why i left in the first place--come on, give me something more challenging, a city that keeps me on my toes, anything...and please, for the love of god, give me a place where the public transportation goes everywhere i need to be at any time of day or night. those thoughts stay strong, but as soon as i started hanging out with friends and settling in, being back here was--a relief, to put it in simple terms.
i've been keeping busy but while making sure i have time to relax, which is a huge change from my new york life. during the day, i wake up, have breakfast with kelsey and listen to whatever record she puts on. sometimes we run errands via bike, sometimes we just fuck around the apartment all morning. by 1 or 2 we part ways, she goes to work and i go do whatever i need or want to do. today i met up with lisa at harvard square and we ate at veggie planet, walked over to The Coop and I bought The Essential Calvin and Hobbes (long overdue). around 6 i biked back to central to go to my spinning class. i'm thinking it might be better if i got into better shape before going full-force into a spin class every day. it's very intense. my muscles literally feel like they're burning during some of the exercises. but i guess after years of barely any real physical activity i had forgotten how awesome it feels to be active. after that i came home, took a long shower, and then sat down and made some dinner and watched a movie. since then i've been reading and lying down. i like this life.
