Ch-ch-ch-changes (v1.5)

Well, John got the job with Dannaher. He's getting paid the same, but I have to quit my traveling training job because he'll be on the road so much. This is a problem. Our budget demands two incomes. So what to do? I've put in with the company I'm training for to do other types of work, submitting a detailed proposal of my skills vs. their needs as I see them (with appropriate 'if you think you'd like me to do this' type demurrals so as not to seem to pushy), and they're looking, but not biting so far. They seem doubtful that they'd like to actually pay to do these things that they're not getting done right now (I got my list of needs from my friends that work there, some of whom would like me to take up their overflow!)

So, what to do? I'm ramping up my efforts to get website work, and hoping I'll find something worthwhile on Monster that doesn't require that I know everything there is to know about design and programming and have 20 years experience for a $20/hr job.......

On the positive front, I've been asked to judge the professional mead competition at the International Mead Festival in Boulder, CO next month. This is quite an honor! I'm tickled and scared to death I'll screw it up! It doesn't pay, but considering that its the premier event for mead in the world each year, I'm just thrilled to be a part of it. But I'm going (free, thanks to hotel, airline and Amex points) and plan to enjoy myself and ship home as much mead as I can scrape up cash for.

The travels continue for 3 more weeks. I'm in Charleston, NC tonight and tomorrow, headed home for the weekend, and leaving for Carroll County, TN next week. Then its off to TRF for the weekend with the Tudor Tarts (thank god for crash pads and frequent flyer tickets!). Then I get a week off, then off to New Bern, NC for a week, ending with a weekend in Manteo for the final performance of the year of the St. Andrews Guild (NC). Then I'm going to lock myself in the house and go *NOWHERE* for as long as possible! I'm *so* worn out from traveling...
