thank you very much for all of the birthday suggestions, everyone. i ended up buying dark chocolate and a cravat, and the raised eyebrows were minimal! it was a smashing success.
i'm at their house now, actually, which is less successful -- but i promised i would stay the weekend seeing as it was his birthday yesterday and i didn't have work. unfortunately, auntie carol is in the room across from mine and i think she has some sort of whooping cough, so there isn't much sleep to be had tonight. i wish she would go to st. mungo's. she's very against modern healing practises which is. well. silly is a very harsh word but. well, all right, it's rather silly. but i only say that because i worry for her health! leeches are just not a good cure for anything.
it's given me a chance to re-explore the roof, though. i used to spend so much time up here and it's just as nice as i remembered it -- although not nearly as much of an adventure now that i can apparate. some of my little things are still up here, even. it's still a good place to sit and think.
lastly, if any of you get a chance to go to mcCowan's in diagon alley you should. i think it's new, but it's really very nice. a good place to have lunch.
