Am I being selfish?
Today, I received an e-mail from one of my bridesmaids of 8 months ago telling me that the bridal shower she is holding for another one of our friends getting married this July is on the same date as Zaphod's and my 1 year wedding anniversary. The e-mail, however, made no mention of the date being our wedding anniversary, and no apologies for this being the only date that the bride-to-be's family were all available (which, of course, I understand).
I can't help but feel hurt by this. Am I being overly egocentric?
Last night while Zaphod and I were enjoying Winterlicious at The Drake Hotel we discussed having a 1 year anniversary BBQ on our anniversary date, which is a Sunday. I suppose we could have it on the Saturday. However, if our mutual friends are planning to attend the shower the next day, or are actually preparing for it, I'm not sure of the likely hood of their attendance at our celebration. Really, it would impact a very small number of people who would attend our party, but one would be my afore mentioned bridesmaid and best friend from high school (likely the main reason I'm feeling dejected). We could also have it on the Sunday, but then the bride-to-be might feel like we'd delivered a slap-in-the-face.
I guess I'm feeling a bit jipped and that our celebration is being demoted.
Perhaps I should just get over myself...
