Yesterday I put up darker curtains up for my Tennants' in the bedroom of the condo. I wish I'd remembered to bring the digital camera. They look fantastic. I brought over my trusty sewing machine and stitched a rich charcoal grey fabric over the already installed off-white curtains from IKEA with metal grommets to reduce friction. The lighter curtains can be left drawn for privacy while allow light in by securing a tie around each of the four, or sets of two, grey curtains around 2/3 of the way down from the top. They look quite elegant. I was concerned that they would make the room look too dark, but with the light yellow walls it adds some nice character to the room.
Now, this was all made possible by the generous loaning of the giant stepladder by mzrowan and northbard so very early on a Sunday morning. Thank you so much! I guess someone was looking out for me the day rectangularcat walked by your door and just knew that northbard lived inside... Of course, she attributes this celestial knowing to northbard.
