So I did it! :D I managed to sell enough that I could make an offer for a partial trade on a body and I got it. :3 It was an insane deal, let me tell you (he had a broken finger and a few dings around his neck, but otherwise is in perfect condition - and frankly I kind of thought the broken finger was fitting considering why I need the body ^^;). Anyhoo, right place, right time, definitely. I'm happy, the other DoA-er is happy... it's so nice when everything works out. XD
I still do not have heads for these two. Alex's new head is paid for but I don't know if it's even shipped from Japan yet. :\ Y!J buying is so slow through a shopping service... I never realized just how much... But anyhoo. Yay, he's paid!! :D So awesome.
Lini, Ty, and Connor have been repainted and should also ship home soon. From the pictures, they look amazing! :O I can't wait to see them in person. I'll share later; I don't want to jinx them! ><
For now, I will share pics of the body, 'cuz it's too cool seeing the difference in Alex's old bod. I never had another Volks Beauty-White to compare him to so I really had no idea how he was aging - but the new body is almost like new. It may have aged from time, but is a perfect even colour all over and I don't think has been in the sun much if at all, so there is definitely a difference. :3
First, box-opening shots. The person I traded with told me not to freak out when I saw the box and assured me the body was well-packed, so really... I was prepared for this...
tiny box.
And yet... I was still (couldn't quite help it) a tiny bit... freaked out. Have an Alex!bod for reference:
But anyhoo... the body was well-packed just as I had been told, with plenty of bubble-wrap and he was securely tucked in so he didn't move around and couldn't break anything. ^^; I really had nothing to worry about. Still... that box! XD
Once out, I immediately compared the new bod's leg to Alex's foot... this was also slightly worrying. That's a pretty big difference. HOWEVER, Alex is fully body-blushed head to toe. Evanstar airbrushed him a bit nuttier brown instead of stark white all over. So this is deceiving.
His legs were unstrung to pack him up in his tiny box but I quickly unstrung him the rest of the way so I could sand off his seams and MSC him with UV-cut anyway. Alex's body 'looks' on, knowing this fate of being unstrung awaits him shortly as well - he needed to be cleaned of all that 'nuttier brown' blushing.
Broken finger. Again, this was EXPECTED. I bought him with a broken finger - I was like... well, I need him because Alex broke... so... it makes sense that I buy a broken body, too? ^^; It felt like fate.
So after de-seaming the new bod and giving Alex's old bod a sponge-bath with a Volks eraser and Winsor Newton to get off all his blushing (that was a task, lemme tell ya... >>), and MSCing both bods... I had to get comparison shots.
Surprisingly, Alex has stood up very well to the ravages of time and sun (even the San Francisco sun when I took him sightseeing all over town last year on holiday). Possibly (very possibly) his body blushing helped. Lots. Protecting him from sun damage. Ah well, I don't think I'll be doing it again, full body-blushing scratches so easy and he's had patches missing since about a month after I first got him... ^^
Comparing the bodies, Alex is overall a creamier colour than the new bod. The new body is more even and definitely a more translucenty white all over. Alex's worst areas are his neck and his hands which both got a lot more sun (since he's usually wearing pants, shoes, and shirt when he's out and about. But even they are only very slightly different. It is VERY hard to photograph the difference, but it is a bit more noticeable in person. :3
I like how my baby's aged~ Call me a freak, but I like it. It's not an awful colour, it's just deeper and it shows what he's been through. :) I never had any other beauty-white Volks to compare him too so it's finally cool to see.
Anyhoo. Pictures! I should get to the pictures...
Trying to get a better shot... not sure if I succeeded? Can anyone else see the difference? Trust me, it's there. Not too much, but it's there.
And I superglued the new body's finger back on. Yay for superglue! Superglue fixes (almost) everything! XD
So ya... pretty happy with this. Now, if Morbidollz can put Alex's broken head back together he will at least have a body, and if she can't... well then I will have to figure out what to do with that situation if it happens, when it happens. I'm trying to just take things as they come at this point. :)
