My latest fan-ish endeavor
Finally, a post that's not about Doctor Who.
(Sidebar: Doctor Who was fantastic and I'm very much looking forward to the next one.)
But this post...is about the most recent medley I've thrown together. As with my previous medleys (Medleywood and Vines and I Am The Doctor's Medley) I've latched onto a tune that I really enjoy and put together a bunch of instances where variations of that tune occur.
Now, the fandom...is Dragonball Z.
BEFORE YOU RUN AWAY: Whatever you may think about the show, the music really is quite good.
I recently dove headfirst into DBZ. Of course, the initial lure was nostalgia, but I'd forgotten how good it was. And I'd really forgotten how grown up it was. Not quite up to Whedon/Whoverse/Cuselof levels maybe, but not all that far behind. I laughed, I squeed, I even shed a few tears (something that really surprised me as I certainly didn't have any tears to spare on it when I was younger). This is definitely what got me hooked on serialized storytelling from an early age. It was really exciting to rediscover this show in ways that I couldn't have predicted. Now I find myself wanting to watch the other two Dragonball shows. It's been so much fun.
I just had to let some of the squee out. You all can go about your day now.
