Things are settling down to a more normal pace here. J is working her butt off with her new job, and I'm starting to ramp up on mine. I got switched to a new project *again*, but this one seems like it will actually go somewhere. While it's been nice not having to work too hard, it'll be nice to get some results. I'm still a little paranoid about losing my job after the whole BMS fiasco.

We're still slowly settling into the house. We have den furniture on order; it should arrive some time in April. We've already bought the paint and supplies to repaint the den, but we don't feel much urgency about it since the furniture is still a ways off. We spent Saturday on the house. J almost finished unpacking the kitchen, and I took a whole bunch of boxes of books and CDs to the basement. We're not going to unpack them for a while, so I got them out of the way. J's plan is for me to limit my book collection to only what will fit in the bookshelves we plan on building in a closet in the basement. It's gonna hurt paring down to just that. However, I don't have much of a leg to stand on since I rarely go back and reread my old books, and they're almost all paperbacks, so it's not like they are collectible. At least she isn't pushing too hard for me to sell of CDs.

I have a corner of the basement all set up to be my music space. My amps, basses, guitar, and keyboard are all there. I'm hoping that J's plans for the basement leavs room to keep it all set up; I'd like it to be easy for me to go down and play around a little. Maybe if it's easy, I'll get back into playing music every so often. At the very least, there's a couple of Joe Jackson pieces I'd like to learn on the piano.

Speaking of Joe Jackson, I just got the most amazing thing. I'm on a JJ email list, and one of the members put together a bootleg compilation of songs from every tour since 1979. He handpicked the best sounding versions of each song from each tour from his extensive bootleg collection and remastered them. It comes to 18CDs full of music. Simply incredible. I spent the last 2 weeks listening to it. I also got the official live album from the last tour, and JJ's new "protest song". Check it out: In 20-0-3. And here's an article in the NY Times that Joe wrote about the issue. Yup. That's right. Most artists, when they decide to use their fame to help with an issue, chose pro-life, anti-war, breast cancer awareness, or something like that. Not Joe. He writes a song, writes editorials in the NY Times and other papers, and donates the profits to the song to groups that are trying to overturn the ban on smoking in NYC bars. Gotta love him. :)
