So with my nights free, this means I catch more evening television.
And now that "American Idol" has begun, once more I can witness the American disease called fame addiction. We all grow up thinking we'll be rock stars, but only a few of us get to do it. But "American Idol" presents peopele with that awful chance. And most of them suck. Watching this sad, macabre parade of losers, you look at it and say, "Yup, this is America."
And, of course, the high comedy of watching bad singers who just know they're good.
The most amusing moment so far in the audition episodes is when a young gay man of the queen varities broke out into "Straight Up" while shaking his ass. I mean, Paula Abdul must LOVE hearing people butcher the songs she herself did 15 years ago.
But the funny part was that in the chorus, which goes "Straight up now tell me do you really wanna love me forever? Oh-oh-oh," during the "oh-oh-oh" part Paul still jerked her head like the choreography in the music video.
Choreography never dies, folks. It never dies.
