Man on the streets

So the past couple days have been weird. I'm suddenly popular, running into people on the street whom I have not seen in years.

Tuesday I was on my way into work, and I ran into the headmaster of my high school, Malvern Preparatory School. He told me that he was on his way to meet trustees about building a fine arts center.

Now this is funny, because Malvern, an all-boys school, was such a jock school when I was there. It still is now, I'm sure, but less so. When I was there, I was one of four kids involved in the All-Catholic Chorus. Now the choral program has more than 60 boys. I still remember those jocky assholes laughing at what we did in the plays. Theater was so gay to them, even if they watched people acting all the time in movies and stuff. So stupid.

And it was even crazier being like the only black student there who didn't play sports. I had ideas of running cross-country and then playing lacrosse in the fall, but once I hit theater, I chose that instead and devoted my time to those things and activities and stuff. Oh well. My brother played sports, and he received more scholarship money than I did, even though I was always in the top five students during my time there.

And today I was walking around during my lunch break, and ran into a guy I knew while in college, Rich. We sang together as tenors in the Kuumba Singers at Harvard, during the one full semester I was actually in the choir. We always had tons of fun and worked super-hard.

Turns out there are a bunch of Kuumba guys around and in Philly now. I've got to be in touch better with them. Need to hang out with the fellas. Outside of work and Rosemary I don't have much of a life. That's pretty much how it's been, and sometimes it gets a little lonely. Need to get together with the friends I have in this area, and they gotta get in touch with me.

Rosemary is heading to NYC this weekend with her friends Sarit and Justin, who is visiting from LA. They want me to go, but I think I'll stay at home. Depends on if anyone wants to hang this weekend. Jukebox Zeros play this Saturday, and I was planning on hitting that up. Not much in the mood to go to NYC, but we'll see.
