I talked about 2 officers getting killed on this FOB last week and it has reached the media. They were supposedly killed by their own supply sergeant who planted a claymore in their room. If anyone wants to read an article about it then here you go:

My day trip to Speicher was kinda interesting. I got to talk with some people I hadnt seen in awhile. It was good to catch up with Superman, dude I missed him! But trying to get back here to danger was a bitch! I tried to get a flight all day on thursday but flights were cancelled or they were too full or the pilots were being assholes and wouldnt take extra people even though they had a pretty empty blackhawk. Then I was lucky to catch a ride on an unscheduled midnight flight. I had never flown over Tikrit at night in a Blackhawk and it was pretty nifty. No matter how many times I fly in a Blackhawk I still cant get over the fact that I'm actually here and how interesting it is to see all the terrain and communities and farms. Everytime I fly I still have my camera out and look at everything we pass over (unless it starts to make me sick, damn you motion sickness!!). But it also sucked to have to walk back to the house at midnight with all my heavy ass gear. So I finally got back to my own bed, collapsed, then woke up at 5am and scared the shit out of my roomies. They weren't expecting me to in till later on in the morning. I did my morning duty of cleaning the humvee in my pajamas then I went back to bed while everyone else went to the gym. Now its the weekend and dental boy is here visiting me. It'll be the last chance I get to see him for atleast a month cause he's going on r&r soon. Last night I completely kicked his ass at board games and darts. We stayed for hip hop night at the sports bar/rec center and he dragged my ass (and the chair that I was holding onto for dear life) on to the dance floor. Yeah, I really miss clubs and dancing back home. I just cant dance in DCUs and boots. While I'm on r&r I definitely want to go out dancing a few times and I'm dragging people with me =)
Justin and I went to go feed the crazy huge fish next to the water palace last night and to my surprise I found out they're draining the lake!! They're trying to find any piece of a grenade that might have been thrown into the water during that attack on the officers last week. I have no clue what they did with the fish though. Those things were massive!! They looked like starving pirahna whenever you threw food into the water, but these things are like 2-3 feet long. When this place was run by Saddam's people they used to feed the fish dog food everyday, no wonder the fish are nuts! I wanted to videotape the fish on a feeding frenzy before I left so hopefully they'll refill the lake before I leave here in a few weeks.
