Choices, choices

My roommate's boyfriend came on tuesday to the USA and he's going to live in Pittsburgh, but he's staying at my place for a few days. Now this guy has been together with Teresa (my roommate) for more than 5 years, and now that he's making his big move to this country I was thinking that he's finally gonna make the move and propose, but I certainly did not expect what happened to me just a few minutes ago:

I was in my room finishing the previous entry of my livejournal, when I turned around and saw a tan envelope right besides my TV, and since I tend to keep my room in order, I knew that the envelope was not there before, so of course being the super curious person that I am, I immediatelly grabbed the enveloped and opened it (hey, even if I knew it wasn't mine, it was in my room, so I have the right to open it LOL). The envelope contained a certificate for a diamond!!!! and I said to myself "uhmmmmmm the plot get interesting!", and then I saw a red elastic cloth, which obviously held something inside, it was a blue velvet box..... at this point it probably won't  surprise you that I opened the box instantly, to find a very nice diamond engagement ring on it!!! wow! I was happy about my friend, I know her since we were in college and I know that she's gonna cry of happiness.. and in that moment my imagination started flying with all the different moral courses of action I could take hehehehe, here are a few:

1. Help the boyfriend organize a romantice setting for him to propose (the "really goody-two-shoes" choice)
2. Wait until the boyfriend is alone an congratulate him on the decision to finally propose (the "being nice and supportive" choice)
3. Pretend that I haven't noticed the envelope, and let him do whatever he planned and wait until they tell me they are engaged to congratulate (the "indiferent and live and let live" choice)
4. Hide it somewhere else to make the boyfriend sweat a little and give it to him at the last minute (the "mischievous SOB" choice).
5. Mention what I found when both of them are together (The "stupid jerk" choice).
6. Throw the ring to the trash and deny that I ever saw it (The "evil and envious" choice).
7. Sell it on a pawn shop and spend the money on alcohol and women (the "really evil bastard choice").

So, there you have it, proof that life is all about choices, as you can see the impact of any of these actions on my relationship with teresa and her boyfriend could be significant. Of course I don't think I could ever do 5, 6 or 7, maybe i would do 4... but would not go too far with it. I most likely do number 2, but it's fun to think about the possible repercutions that any of these actions could have. :-)
