Title: Expanding Universe

John dies looking into frightened blue eyes he can barely see anymore, the buzzing in his ears drowning out the pitch of the defibrillator. The last things he feels are the damn bug tightening his grip and a strange kind of regret. Then the defibrillator discharges and the world falls away.
When he wakes again, it's to those same anxious blue eyes. John doesn't know why, but he feels grateful for their presence. Looking at McKay is a little like coming home, though John has no idea how the hell that happened. He looks forward to finding out, though, he thinks, watching a relieved smile crinkle the skin around McKay's eyes when he makes a lame joke.
For the first time since coming to Atlantis, John thinks he might find peace here.
