Name:
badwolf36, also known as Jordan
Team: War!
Let's talk about:
badwolf36!
1. How long have you been writing fan fiction and/or making fan art and/or whatever else (vids, knitted goods, pornographic gingerbread cookies)? I’ve been in fandom since 2002.
2. Have you participated or are you participating in any other fandoms? I’ve participated in a variety of fandoms. I started out with Digimon strangely enough. I worked my way into a variety of anime fandoms, notably Full Metal Alchemist.
I tossed in a little House, some CSI: Las Vegas, and some Final Fantasy before moving on to the Doctor Who universe and Torchwood.
From there it’s been Stargate: Atlantis all the way. I would like to get into some other fandoms - I’ve been poked about how awesome Merlin is, but between work and other things, I don’t have that much time.
3. What fanwork are you most proud of? Or, what is your favourite of your fanworks? (links, please!) Oh gosh. I’m sure everyone says this, but it’s hard to choose a favorite. I think I’m still enamored with the first time I did a five things fic, one of the first SGA stories I ever did.
Five Ways the Wraith Got to Rodney and One Way He Really Pissed Them Off still makes me smile.
4. As far as creative processes go, what type of writer/artist are you? Do you create an outline/find photo references/make maps, etc., or do you jump in and go with the flow? I’m kind of an anything goes sort of writer. For my Match fic, I’ve made an outline, but if I get a bug and I have the time, I will try to pound through an entire work. It is perhaps for this reason that I’ve been rather prolific in drabbles, which only require a concept and an economy with words.
5. Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work? (homepage, LJ fic index, etc.) I am working on a fic index so that I can at least get slightly organized, but here is the address of my fic in the order that it was posted on LJ
Badwolf36’s fic 6. Do you write original fiction (poetry, screenplays)? Do you create original art (comics, photographs, quilts, wedding cakes)? Care to share? I do create original works, but I’ve found that fandom has crippled me a little in that regard. Don’t get me wrong. My writing has been vastly improved by fandom, but I find that I have trouble with creating flawed characters because fandom provides them ready-made for dissection.
7. How are you so awesome? I am awesome because I try to always remember to comment on fics when I read them, whether they were good, bad or ugly. Constructive criticism is sometimes one of the greatest gifts.
Let's talk about: SGA!
8. What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom? I love the rich environments and character relations that SGA provides. I mean, come on. They are on the lost city of Atlantis in another galaxy. The rules are as different as the authors want them to be. It’s provided some really amazing works to read.
9. Why do you ship McKay/Sheppard? What draws you to the pairing, what do you like and dislike? Favourite scenes or episodes? Quotes? Screencaps? What other SGA pairings do you ship? I ship McKay/Sheppard because of their relationship and the absolute chemistry between them. Whether it’s a friendship piece or a full-blown love fest, if the author stays true to the snarky character of the pair, then the fic is almost guaranteed not to fail.
There are a variety of moments I love between the pair and just on their own. Almost anything Rodney yells when he is under pressure is sure to be a gem and John in full geek mode is highly entertaining. The episode where they are trading Batman trivia and the one where they are racing cars is just an example of some of the ways the two utilize their “quieter” moments to strengthen their relationship.
10. Why did you choose to join Team War? I chose Team War because I believe that you can’t have a story without conflict. It doesn’t have to be a bloody story to have conflict (although there is something strangely appealing about those great H/C stories) and sometimes the sweetest endings come from the greatest of trials.
11. C'mon, you know you wanna! Just a bit of squee about your Match fic? [good example: 'very proud of my second scene' / bad example: 'When Rodney kisses John after they find out the butler did it'.] I finally have my Match fic completely outlined and have begun the work of filling in the gaps. It’s slow going, but barring any major complications, I think I will be happy with the result.
12. What are your 'tells'? How can a fic of yours be spotted in the wild? (again, go ahead and make origami out of the truth!) Normally I’d say the tell would be that it is a drabble, but the word limit kind of throws that out of the question.
If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to throw them at me.
