Hi, my name is Cypher, and I'm been a fanfic writer for...

Well, I do believe I promised to break the ice. Alas, I'm in Cali, and it's a balmy 73 degrees. ...yeah, okay, bad pun. Blame the webcomics. And now for something completely different, my McShep Romance Interview!

1. How long have you been writing fan fiction?
A while now, actually, I started in my sophomore year in high school, so that makes it...wow, 7 years. Almost 8, actually. Of course, I didn't start writing slash (yaoi, anyways) until...hm...5 years ago? Yeah, that's when I did my first m/m fic. I was completely happy with Gen fic and then bam! It hit me as I was studying for a Chem test and watching Stargate (...okay, I was watching Stargate and using the book as a table for my drink). So to sum up: almost a decade.

2. Have you participated in any other fandoms?
Hah! Oh yeah, though Atlantis has held my attention the longest. I started in Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, then moved on to--erm...a fandom we shall not speak of due to *SHAME!*. Then there was...Stargate SG-1, X-Men: Evo, and Static Shock, and then finally Atlantis. I've dabbled in a few others, but they're mostly one or two-shot fandoms I don't really visit any longer. Passing fancies and what-not. I'll be entering the Trek-verse soon enough. Just got to finish getting some ducks (i.e., plot points) lined up.

3. What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom?
The versatility of the characters, and how flexible/plausible they've made everything for us writers. The actors are simply fabulous (in the case of Hewlett, awesome) who feel more accessable than those on other shows (not SG-1, but others) and you can tell they're having fun with the whole thing.

Fandom has created a wonderful plethora of fics and art for us all to enjoy, and unlike SG-1 seems more open to the ideas they present (including slash, if the MGM website or David and Joe are anything to go by).

Plus, you know, one of the SGA writers is an ex-fanfic author (there is hope! That could be me someday!), and it almost feels like permission for us to do what we writers do best because we're one of them.

4. Why did you choose to join Team Angst/Team Romance?
Team romance all the way! Why? I adore romantic comedies, and Rodney and John are the perfect mismatched (yet so right) couple there is. I mean, I could've joined Angst, but I just don't have much experience with it (...okay, so I do have a couple in SG-1, but upon reflection they're a bit cliche) and I have to be, you know, in the mood. I'm an optimistic (if not realist) kind of guy that prefers the happily ever after. Or, you know, at least a happy-at-this-moment-until-oops!-Hindenburg-exploded! sorta thing.

?5. Where can interested readers find more of your work?
If you go to my Memories, everything but "Favorites" and "Others" contains my fanfic work (I recommend Atlantis and Static Shock, myself). You can also find some of my older stuff on Fanfiction.net under the name Cypher, but be warned! My early work (as in, first fanfic) is still there, as is the *SHAME* fanfic that I'm getting death threats about for not finishing.

Also, on FF.N there's a fic I'm co-authoring (kinda) with valkyrie-alex called "Through the Glass, Darkly" that's Static Shock and really? I think it's one of my prouder achievements; plus, you know, got to write a Necrophilia scene. Plus, I inspired (read: forced upon her) plot bunnies for most of her Static fic (Dakota Noir=amusement for my boredom). If you're not into (canon!) gay super heroes, she also writes for Supernatural. Either way, you should take a gander at her work. Awesome author (who refuses to be sucked into SGA fandom, damnit!).

Okay, a little off-topic on that last one, sorry. As a bit of a PS: I have no life and have plenty of plot bunnies to foist--er, suggest. Also pretty helpful getting authors out of sticky plot points and writer's block (but not my own...no fair). So drop me a line (AIM/YIM/LJ, it's all seikaitsukimizu) for a bunny, for help, or even to say hello! I'm almost always on, and eager to chat (unless I'm in World of Warcraft, of course).

Hope this has been informative (or at least, not boring), and have a great day!

PPS: Just because there's always gender confusion if I don't say something--no, I'm not a 'her' or 'she'. Though I could probably pull it off with the right dress and a wig. *grin*
