The battery life is surprisingly good, considering... but it's got problems. Most times, when I try to boot it, the screen comes up pure white, and stays white. Since I can glark from LED-watching when it's fully booted and thus shut it down cleanly from there blind, it's not a huge issue, but it IS an issue. The fix seems to be: let it boot, shut it down cleanly, remove the battery for a short period, and try again. Most times, it then boots properly, with actual screen output.
Don't suppose any of you folks know what might be the issue? It's an IBM ThinkPad 570, type 2644-3AU, with the 6.4GB hard drive, the 366MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM, running Windows 98 (which is perfectly adequate for what I use it for). If it comes right down to it, I could reinstall, but I'd really rather not... is this issue something that says "time to start saving for a new laptop?
