Stargate: An excellent event. Crew limited but kept us busy, refs adapted excellently to some frankly disturbing weather; props were effective and the death of a recurring nemesis was cake for most of the player base. Duncan got to be chief boffin and though wildly underqualified for the job seemed to keep everything running along and keeping the scientists and refs talking to each other over the gorgeous MacGuffin. It was an event of the grenade, LAW, tactically planted C4 and knife, redecorating in late Yeti and fending off diplomatic incidents using Star Trek quotes. Serious kudos to the ref team, the players, the crew and the lovely people who stayed behind to help tidy.
Consall Scout Camp. Lovely place. Lots of natural features. Hilly too. Damn hilly. Muddy as well. Damn muddy. Difficult to get to without public transport which is a bit of a growl on my part but never mind. Amazed by the hilltop becoming a paddy field.
Status of hardware: Primary PDA MIA at Derby rail station. Asus eee fine when fallen on, otherwise mild goobing over by players/refs.
Another Macdonald bottle opener lost in battle.
Status of player: Knees aching in good way, back straighter, left shoulder doesn't love me any more. Clearly walking up hills is good for me even if I do hit the mud every time I fall over. And somehow (not sure how) I seem to have gained some sun. Had lots of fun (Daniels and Waterhouse may become a double act) and there will be revenge on certain Brigadiers involving PowerPoint oh yes.
paulbroz coming to visit this morning as Warhammer books have been sighted in the fantasy section of the cheap bookshop. I may just decide to check out the newish bar/lounge that's opened as well armed with spoils to hunt WiFi (yes it's becoming an unhealthy obsession).
Spent an hour talking to Mum last night. Really need to get my ass over to Cyprus.
