Tina was seated, or curled up rather, on a small couch by the window. Her dad was having a last-minute meeting with some business associates at the house, and Mrs. Cohen-Chang insisted on Tina leaving so she wouldn't disturb them. So while she headed off to her part-time job at the public library, Mrs. Cohen-Chang dropped her daughter off at the only place Tina thought you could get a decent hot chocolate.
So there she sat, her legs curled underneath her on the chair as she sipped her warm chocolate drink and flipped through the latest (by which it was three months old) tabloid on the coffee table.
A very tall familiar figure caught her eye as he walked inside the cafe, and, feeling somewhat mischievous as she recognized him, Tina put her drink down and pulled out her cell phone to send Finn a text message.
There were only two more people in front of Finn in line when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He fished it out to find a text message from Tina and his eyes widened at what he read. Was she, like, psychic or something? He had just been thinking about maybe getting a coffee instead of a hot chocolate. That was so weird.
Finn read his next message and his eyebrows drew together. She could see him? Like, psychically? No, that didn't make sense. Psychics weren't real. He was being dumb.
Finn = so derpy, so cutemorbidbubblesMarch 1 2011, 00:04:14 UTC
It took all of Tina's strength not to burst out laughing as she moved from her seat and made her way towards the line Finn stood in. After making it clear to the person behind her friend that she wasn't trying to cut, Tina spoke from behind Finn.
That was the idea, so I'm glad he comes off that way. :DthinksofmailmanMarch 1 2011, 00:08:51 UTC
Finn nearly jumped a foot when he heard Tina's voice behind him. Part of him had been thinking maybe she really was psychically spying on him or something when she didn't answer right away. He knew that was stupid, but she hadn't texted him back, and he had glanced around without spotting her... He thought maybe he was just being paranoid.
It took him a minute to recover from the shock of her scaring him. He gave her a nervous half grin and ran his hand through his hair. "Uh, hi there, Tina. I totally didn't see you."
"You're such a dork, you know that right?" She smiled, holding back her inner laughter at his reaction. "Sorry, I couldn't resist the urge to mess with you a little. And yeah, I was over by the window." She pointed to where her jacket was still hanging on the armchair of the couch. "So what brings you here? Sudden caffeine craving?"
Finn smiled sheepishly and shrugged. "Yeah, it's totally cool." He was easy enough to mess with, he couldn't really blame her for it. Finally, he had only one guy in front of him ordering. Too bad, from the sound of it, he was ordering for, like, ten people. "Hot chocolate. I had to walk home, and I got cold. What about you?"
"Same drink, different reason," Tina replied, rocking back and forth on her heels. "In a nutshell, my parents wanted me out of the house." She shrugged.
"Daddy's having a business meeting there and my mother doesn't seem to realize that at sixteen years old I know not to bother them," Tina grumbled in reply.
So there she sat, her legs curled underneath her on the chair as she sipped her warm chocolate drink and flipped through the latest (by which it was three months old) tabloid on the coffee table.
