Tina was having a terrible morning. She'd been on edge over since Friday's glee rehearsal, and watching a movie at Artie's later that night hadn't helped her relax as much as it should. She still felt uneasy about her growing feelings for her best friend.

And of course, while lost in distracted thoughts about her emotional situation, she got slushied this morning upon walking into school. Super sour watermelon was ironically fitting for her mood, but she was far from seeing the humor. Tina had removed most of the the slush from her outfit, but it was still covered in dark splotches as it dried, and the aroma wasn't going away nearly soon enough.

She would've left the restroom much sooner if the shoelace of her boot hadn't gotten caught in the bathroom door and snapped the end off. She'd groaned loudly and locked herself in one of the stalls, propping her foot up on the toilet as she tried to fix her bootlace. She figured this was a better alternative than someone walking in to find her with her leg propped up on the sink and have them start asking questions.

Of course, as she pulled her bootlace out to adjust it she heard the annoying, lilting voices of the top 3 Cheerios - Quinn, Santana, and Brittany. The Asian girl pursed her lips together and tried to focus on fixing her shoe, but she couldn't stop their words from drilling into her ears.

The usual comments about Rachel's clothing and attitude cropped up, which Tina thought was unfair. She disliked Rachel Berry's ego as much as anyone else, but at least she never hurt anybody. Tina knew she couldn't say the same thing about Head Cheerio, Quinn. She practically enjoyed it.

And then the focus of the conversation turned to other Glee clubbers, and Tina felt her muscles tighten, and her hands begin to clench. She could (for the most part) handle being referred to as "the creepy goth dyke who could barely talk", but when they brought up Artie, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. And the other half of her shoelace which she yanked on in anger.

She slammed the door of the bathroom stall open after the Cheerio minions had left, and she glared at Quinn through the reflection of the mirror. "Wh-what....is your......damage?" she asked with a sneer, barely stuttering.

Quinn had been unaware there was anyone else in the bathroom with her and the other girls, and the slam of the stall had made her jump slightly. Composing herself quickly, she looked down to smooth out her uniform before she recognized the girl's voice at her back. She looked up slowly, meeting Tina's eyes in the mirror, and had to swallow the shame she found herself feeling before she spoke.

"Tina," she stated coolly, hiding any and all signs of discomfort. "You shouldn't make it a hobby to lurk in bathroom stalls and eavesdrop. It's weird,"

Tina shook her head at Quinn, her eyes remaining fixed on the blonde in the mirror. "Of c-course, Quinn! That's why I do it - it's not like I have a purpose for being in here, I'm totally here to f-freak you out so I can get the school talking about me more." She spat out the words sarcastically.

Tina stepped forward and turned to look the girl in the eye. "You still didn't answer my question." Her hands were in fists at her sides, but for the moment her voice was low and icy.

Quinn quirked an eyebrow on the girl as she watched her in the mirror, before turning around to face her. As Tina met her eyes, Quinn couldn't deny the pang of guilt that hit her - why did she care what Tina thought? Tina didn't matter; not really, anyway, in terms of social gain.

"I have no damage," Quinn repeated the girl's term with condescension, looking down at her. She brought her hands to rest on her hips after she finished smoothing down the fabric of her skirt. "But thank you for your concern, really."

"Concern?" Tina scoffed. "Concern! What do YOU know about concern, Quinn? I'll tell you what - not. a. damn. thing." Once she'd started, Tina couldn't help herself - at the back of her mind, she knew that this kind of backtalk to the head cheerleader was dangerous, but right now she didn't care.

"You walk around this school all high and mighty - Cheerio, Celibacy President - you act like you're dedicated to helping other people but the only person you've ever 'cared' about is right there-" She forcefully pointed to the mirror at Quinn's reflection, though she kept staring at the girl head-on. "Too blinded by her goal to look pretty that she can't see how ugly she really is."

Quinn couldn't help but feel impressed by the girl's determination - and her stutter seemingly fading with anger. She couldn't remember a specific time she'd targeted Tina; she realized, though, that that might just be because she targeted too many people to keep track. She couldn't remember ever speaking directly to the girl...and yet she spent her time mocking her clothing, her hair, her stutter.

She blinked at the girl, feigning disinterest. "What do you want? An apology? You're looking at the wrong person for that sort of thing," Quinn said. She was being honest, though she didn't take as much pride in it as she normally would.

"Don't tell me things I already know," Tina snapped, crossing her arms. "You practically get off making people feel like...like shit, Quinn. A-And I've dealt with it and probably will deal with it the entire time I'm here at McKinley, 'cause I know it would take an act of God to get you to actually change."

She leered at the girl, pointing a finger at her with one arm still crossed. "BUT. If you think you can weasel your way into Glee club and keep talking trash about my friends like you were, then you're in for some serious friggin' disappointment."

Quinn nearly hissed at the girl's mention of God, her face forming a scowl as she looked at Tina gravely. "The Lord and I are on very good terms, thank you," she said primly. Whether or not this was actually true, no one - especially not Quinn - actually knew. But Quinn wanted to believe it, and, like everything else in her world, if she wanted it, it was her truth.

"I didn't weasel my way into anything," Quinn said, exasperated. "I auditioned just like the rest of you. I got in on talent. What I choose to do with my time as a member of Glee club is no one's business but mine!"

Tina scoffed; she didn't want to offend the girl's religious beliefs but was she really so deluded as to think she was a good person? "And what about the terms you're on with everyone else? People either hate you or they're scared of you! I'm not saying you don't have talent Quinn, but if auditions had been about personality I think the outcome would've been very different for you."

Tina snarled at the girl's words. "You...are so...thick-headed!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up. "How can you call yourself a member when you look down your nose at us all the time?! Look, I know you couldn't care less about us, but Glee means something to us - me, Kurt, Mercedes, Artie..." She paused, then crossed both her arms again. "All of us. I don't want an apology from you Quinn Fabray, though I'm sure there are plenty of people who deserve one-" Artie's face flashed in her mind but she mentally brushed it aside, putting on hand on her hip. "So if you're going to make it your 'business' to be around us, you might want to start acting like you actually have a heart."

"Look where your personality's gotten you, Tina. All of you. You're in Glee club. Everyone looks down on you, it isn't just me," Quinn spoke with conviction, her tone severe and blunt. "These are facts. Deny it all you want, Tina, stand up for whoever you want, but you are kidding yourself if you think that believing in something like Glee club makes you any less thick-headed."

In all honesty, Quinn didn't know if she believed what she was saying. She'd never had someone like Tina to stand up for her - never had anyone she would even consider a friend, other than Finn. And lately, she found herself wondering if even that relationship was something she would be able to hold on to. Tina's words, the most vicious she'd ever heard the girl spew, hit Quinn more than she would have liked to admit - more than she ever would, particularly to the girl that stood in front of her now.

"My personality? I've spent the past year trying to hide my personality from people like you, and know what I get? Slushied!" She gestured to her stained clothing. "I have to stand on the sidelines and watch my friends get bullied every day for the stupidest things, like we're intruders on your perfect freakin' society! My friends get slushied for liking to be on stage, ridiculed for liking a particular person, for things they can't control! And I've had it!" She banged her fist again the wall. "WE ARE PEOPLE, Quinn! Are you really that soulless that you don't know how to treat someone like a human being?! Or even acknowledge that someone like Artie exists!?"

Tina shook her head, almost dizzy from all her emotion. "Thick-headed, naive...call me all the things you want Quinn, I at least know where I belong, and that's with my friends in Glee. And the next time you're in that choir room, remember that you're the intruder." She huffed and tore open the restroom door, throwing her hands in the air as she strode out of the bathroom and down the hallway, leaving Quinn with her own thoughts.

Quinn bit the inside of her cheek as the girl spoke, remembering how many slushies she'd thrown, wondering if Tina was at the opposite end. For the grief she'd intended to give, Tina was only mildly successful - Quinn was seeming to put up with a lot of lowly students who were given sudden confidence by Glee ('united we stand' mentality, for the nerds). She didn't pay that much thought. But Tina spoke with a lot of conviction - she cared for her friends, and that was something Quinn found herself respecting, even admiring.

Quinn rolled her eyes as the girl warned her, hands resting firmly on her hips until she heard the door of the bathroom slide closed. The noise caused her to drop her hands, and she rubbed her face, exasperated. This week was already off to a wonderful start.
