My house doesn't have a traditional British garden. All I have is a sad little courtyard which is mostly concrete and paving stones, with a few colorful plants I've planted in pots to try and cheer the place up a bit. Still, it's amazing what can be done even with a space the size of a postage stamp. My mum was kind enough to give me a cherry tomato plant specially bred to grow outdoors in a container. I was fairly certain I'd killed it at one point by forgetting to water it, but not only did the brave little plant survive, it provided me with a crop of tomatoes.
I went outside earlier today to try and do something about the brambles that have been growing over the wall, and found all these tomatoes ready to pick! I'm rather impressed, because my previous attempts at growing my own veggies have not gone so well. It turns out it's difficult to grow plants that need a lot of water in containers.
The red ones are going in the fridge, ready to eat and the rest are going to sit by the window to finish ripening in the sunlight.
