"They have my favorite kind of waffles!"

This week on Heroes... Papa Petrelli makes an S&M porno, Peter teaches Flint that fire isn't always fun, and Mohinder grows trolls in his basement.

HEROES: It's Coming
The Peter/Claire/Knox/Flint Part
- Peter needs his powers back. He can stand around looking dramatic all he wants, but there won't always be a handy gas main to save him.
- Claire, oh Claire. The universe doesn't actually revolve around you, you know. I mean, apparently it does, but sometimes it's nice to pretend you don't realize that fact. Claire used to be one of my favorite characters, too. If she's even the real Catalyst :/
- Flint really can't take care of himself without big sis.
- It sounded like Flint and Knox knew Claire was the Catalyst, but how? Did Sylar tell Arthur what he found in Claire's brain?
- As usual, George Takei Did Something Sneaky in days of yore and now everyone has to scramble to figure out wtf he was up to. If only Adam hadn't killed him off, this season would be a lot less convoluted.
- I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that everyone on this show is Claire's uncle, and every one of her uncles will attempt to kill her at some point. Next week: Mr. Muggles reveals his secret identity as Meredith's other brother, and tries to bite Claire's feet off.

The Sylar/Elle Part
- What do you get when you take a dark room and put into it 1) a sweaty girl, 2) a shirtless man, 3) chains, and 4) electricity? Kinky porn that Papa Petrelli apparently enjoys watching via CCTV. No, there was no actual sex, but still.
- In literally a scene and a half, Elle goes from shrieking, "MURDERER! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! I HATE YOU! I SWEAR I'M GONNA KILL YOU, YOU SON OF A BITCH! DIE!" to, "OMG let's be BFFs!" Yes, I'm sure she's thrilled to have her power working properly again and have someone to show off her mad skillz to, and yes she wants someone to accept her, but there really needed to be a few more scenes between wanting Sylar dead and sitting comfortably next to him having a heart-to-heart. And by "a few more scenes," I mean "a season and a half." Now, I like theoretical!Sylar/Elle, but they shouldn't be all cutesy and adorable; even if they get past their issues with each other, they're both psycho killers.
- That said, I really liked the first few scenes of her bitching him out. Elle's scary when she's having a meltdown :[
- Since when is it all Sylar's mom's fault that he's a killer? What? WHAT? I'M SO CONFUSED. Is he talking about Virginia or Angela and HUH? First, he was blaming "the Hunger" (a retcon I am getting progressively more sick of), then he was blaming Elle, and now he's blaming one of his mothers? What?
- What was wrong with Elle, again? Why wasn't her ability working?
- So let me get this straight. If Sylar has empathy for someone, he can take their power without killing them. He felt bad for Elle, and then he forgave her for ruining his life, so he could take her power and fix whatever mysterious ailment she had just by stroking her thigh suggestively. SINCE WHEN? Sylar has the Magical Fix-All Touch Of Rainbows And Butterflies, apparently.
- I think Sylar's pants must have superpowers too, considering his shirt turned to ash but the pants didn't have a mark on them.
- Speaking of clothing, where did Elle get hers in the last scene? I bet after she and Sylar had make-up sex in a four-poster bed strewn with rose petals, a gang of cartoon birds brought them both new shirts *headdesk*
- Lightning is pretty :D Next week, I won't write this at 5 in the morning.

The Matt/Daphne/Angela Part
- Again with a sudden change from "you're creepy and I don't like you" to "I love you, let's have babies." Less sudden than Elle's change of heart, but still. At least we've seen Daphne have doubts about Pinehearst in the past, so I could buy that she'd decide to throw her hand in with Primatech, but her being in love with Matt? A bit out of the blue.
- I really liked the dream sequence. Creepy stuff.
- Angela can be chained up in a hallway and still look like she rules the world. If it comes down to Arthur v. Angela, Arthur's going to get his ass handed to him on a piping hot plate of FAIL, no matter that his minions are way more badass than Angela's.

The Nathan/Tracy/Arthur Part
- Heidi got mentioned! Not... by name, but... Um.
- Tracy is a cold-hearted manipulative political schemer. I knew I liked her too much for her to stay good. But I did think she cared about Nathan enough not to manipulate him into doing something he obviously did not want to do. Although maybe she thinks she's helping him out by aligning him with someone she knows to be very powerful. Oh well. Now she's got a reason to have a showdown with Meredith \o/
- "Give your father a hug." STOP BAD-TOUCHING YOUR CHILDREN, ARTHUR.
- So... Arthur wants Nathan to be President and plans to save the world by giving everyone abilities. I need to rewatch this bit.

The Hiro/Ando/Usutu Part
- Usutu is still headless ;_; I really liked that dude.
- Baby Hiro is adorable, but I get the feeling they might overuse it. It was great for one episode, but if it continues beyond next week it'll get old fast.
- Why didn't Arthur kill Hiro or at least steal his power and leave him and Ando stranded in the desert? Why take his memory?
- I'm going to willingly suspend by disbelief and say that Isaac wrote 9th Wonders years and years in advance.
- Ando was pretty great in this episode. He needs to be this great every week.
- This show clearly shares my view on waffles. WAFFLES FTW \o/

The Mohinder Part
- Mohinder caught the dumb :[

The Everyone Part
- So we have clearly delineated sides now, huh? Complete with dramatic group posing. Nice.

The Not Appearing In This Episode Part
- Episodes without HRG are always a bit depressing. He makes everything better.
- No Meredith, alas, and no Gratuitous Flame Hand. I think I'm the only person who likes the Gratuitous Flame Hand, but I do. I have no shame.
- No Sandra. Hey, maybe Claire and Sylar can bond over both having two moms! It'll be great! He can stroke her thigh suggestively like he stroked Elle's, and then Claire's problems with her powers and her daddy issues will vanish just like Elle's did!
- Mr. Muggles and The Turtle ;_; They need their own spin-off show. Oh, and Mr. Muggles is the Catalyst. Trufax.

All that said, I actually really enjoyed this episode.

NEXT WEEK (spoilers from both the NBC promo and the Global promo):
- I thought abilities just manifested whenever. A lot of people had their abilities before the first eclipse. Actually, did anyone manifest during the eclipse? I'm bracing to be dazzled by more retconning next week.
- Claire got shot! They made it look like Elle was the shooter, but I have learned the hard way that promos lie. Especially because I saw a promo pic from 3x11 that was Elle clinging to Sandra, and I don't think Sandra would be willing to be glomped by someone who shot her beloved Claire-bear.
- HRG! You came back ♥
- Elle sounded more Elle-ish in this promo than she has in the past three weeks with her "they're all trying to turn you into something" speech. I'm hoping she'll be back to conniving and awesome next week now that her power's working and she has no excuse to be emo anymore. Though I suspect she's actually going to be talking Sylar down from doing something bad. Oh, the character-rape, it never ends :(
- Hello, Baby Noah!

ETA: It just struck me that the Sylar/Elle scenes this week were very reminiscent of the "yellow crayon" bit from S6 of Buffy. Methinks Kring has been rewatching his Whedon, 'cause Sylar and Elle have been reenacting every great Whedon love story. Next week: they are cute and schmoopy on a balcony until Knox unleashes the spirit of the ancient deity he worships, which can only be brought to life by killing Elle slowly and painfully. Sylar stabs Knox repeatedly, but Elle dies anyway. But that's okay, 'cause the week after that Arthur will bring her back from the dead and she'll haunt Sylar's dreams and they'll wind up having hate!sex in a hotel room, and that's how Baby Noah is conceived. Nine months later, Elle kills herself to save her newborn son in a rainy alley while Sylar cries pathetically and HRG blows shit up.
