I geeked it up on my last two days in 東京 (tokyo)

I found a copy of いただきストリートスペシャル, used no less, but I just couldn't convince myself to buy it. Maybe when we return to 東京 for the last night, but right now I just don't have a PS2 to play it on. PS2s here cost around ¥20000. It'd probably be cheaper to just get my PS2 modded, though I don't even know where to begin on THAT process.

Either way, I indulged my 幻想水滸伝 (genso suikoden) fandom by getting the 幻想水滸伝IV soundtrack, as well as the original (YES, THE ORIGINAL LKBALSKDALNDRSEOPLSDCVLVB) strategy guide for 幻想水滸伝. I also got a book for the Card Stories games, which had a picture of Mickey-D I had never seen before, so naturally I had to shell out the yen for the entire book.

Visited the very controversial やすくに (yasukuni) shrine. It's a shine to commemorate the war dead, but over the past few years has gotten media attention when the names of those convicted of atrocities in WWII were added to the museum. It also has a rather particular view of history.

Almost bought imperial sake too, but the gift shop was closed after we left the museum.

Went to the personal house of crazy food lecture lady. She has a severe case of OCD. We ate cucumbers and pickles, and got lectured for 3 hours on the various way to pickle a cucumber. Very bizarre, yet mildly entertaining at the same time.

Dr. Kanatsu (as well as the rest of the group, but mainly Kanatsu since he, y'know, speaks Japanese) bore witness today to an accident. A car hit a motorcycle, and sent the guy on the motorcycle flying. He was pretty badly hurt. Kanatsu eventually told us that Japan has one of the worst ambulence response times in the world, and that the ambulence that showed up on the scene was an ambulence that was coming from another accident before.

Regardless, this has not stopped me on my quest to eventually get one.

Tomorrow, we head off to the world expo and watch sumo wrestling. Sumo is very entertaining to watch when you have a favorite (which, in this case, is 朝書りゅ - Asashoryu, the kanji finder doesn't want to find "ryu" it seems).

AJ - August 4th, plane lands at 5:30ish PM. Let me know if this works or not.
