Going strong

So, today Andy and I took Duncan to the vet to have his follow-up visit from when he was sick two weeks ago, as well as to get some shots. Turns out that he has another viral lung infection AND bacterial ear infections in both ears.

*sigh*

Poor kitty. He's on another round of antibiotics and antivirals. Fun. Fun. And, he got two shots... which made him cry so pathetically, and made me tear up, too. How is it that I'm such a sucker when it comes to my animals? Meh, perhaps it's because I don't have real kiddos to worry about!

After we brought Duncan back home, Andy and I headed to the gym. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and burned 350 calories and then did 15 minutes on the NuStep and burned another 100, so 450 calories for 45 minutes. I know that's likely not a lot to some people, but let me tell you, it's a lot for me. When I started three weeks ago, I was just hitting 300 calories burned in 45 minutes, so I've already upped that by 150 more. My goal is to be at 600 calories by the end of February. Anyway, then we did strength training and I focused today on my lower back, hips, butt, and legs... I'm going to be one sore lady tomorrow morning, I think!

We're now gonna hop in the showers and go grocery shopping, which means we have to sit down and plan our menu for the week. I'm tiring of turkey sandwiches for lunch everyday, so I'm going to have to come up with something new for this week to mix it up and make me not want to fall off the "eating right" bandwagon.

Oh, and Andy and I decided that for every 10 pounds we lose, we're going to reward ourselves with $10 of iTunes... he'll be down 20 pounds come Tuesday, so he'll be getting $20.00 worth of songs... I, on the other hand, will likely not hit my first 10-pound loss for another two or three weeks. I'm OK with that, though. He's a man so he's going to lose weight a lot faster than I. Plus, he's got a lot more weight to lose than I do, so it should come off a little faster for him. Besides, I'm so excited to see him doing so well and loving it... I can't wait to see my sexy, skinny husband next year! (I love him as is, but I'd like to love him for a long, long time...) Gotta keep telling myself this is a marathon and not a sprint!

Tonight, we're going over to my boss's (and friend!) house to play board games with her, her husband and her brother, whom we've become pretty good friends with over the last few months. We're having nikujyaga, which is essentially a Japanese beef stew. Amy studied in Japan, too, and her husband is Japanese, so I'm excited to eat this because I haven't had it in since I lived in Japan! It's fairly healthy, and I've adjusted my meals for the rest of the day to allow for a nice helping of it AND a beer tonight! WOOT!

So, I need to stop playing on the computer... I'm glad to be LJing again, and I'm glad to see more of you are doing so, too!!! I've missed hearing more details of your lives than what FB has to tell me!
