Yesterday's news about the Supreme Court overturning previous rulings on corporate campaign financing really scares me. The fact that corporations can now freely spend as much as they wish on campaign advertisements is alarming and a wake-up call to the people of this country: YOUR vote is in jeopardy. Regardless of whether you're a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent or what have you, the almighty dollar is now going to be deciding our political candidates. And, no, I'm not just saying that because I'm a crazy, left-leaning, tree-hugging Liberal... I don't want left-leaning corporations having any influence in the world of politics either. It's no longer a democracy if corporations are calling the shots, and not the people.
This is a slippery slope we're heading down... and frankly, it really frightens the shit out of me.
