I'm with Charter One now, and I'm fully satisfied with the service they provide (although I've had to go to the ATM in the Nast that's half a block from my branch far too often due to the branch's ATM being out of order). I've been with both Huntington and Man Bank* before that, and in both cases felt dissatisfied to varying degrees (a little with Huntington and a lot with The Man).

I have had better luck with The Man than I did with Dollar Bank.

Maybe it's the hippie vibe out here in the Pacific Northwest, but we have a whole pantsload of employee and customer-owned banks and credit unions that seem to really go out of their way to not screw you.

In this case Dollar Bank is a relatively small independent bank doing business pretty much just in Ohio and Pennsylvania. I would expect the type of crap from The Man not a smaller bank like Dollar. Maybe that is why they are still small despite their efforts.

They actually reply to my letter. No real satisfaction in the conversation but I was mildly amuse.

Dollar Bank representative:

Thank you for your email. I understand your frustration, however, Dollar Bank does notify customers when their account is in a dormant status. I'm sorry that you did not see the notification, but we did try to warn you of the pending changes to your account.
I have spoken with the AVP of our Branch Support system. He reviewed your account and agreed with the branch's decision.
Sincerely,
DB rep

My reply to that (yes I was try to get my $241 out of this conservation):
