I’m gonna do it. I have to do it. I’m gonna propose to Calliope. I already bought a ring. And I have planned the evening I’m asking her tomorrow. But first I have to talk to the chief to get us both two days off after tomorrow. That’s why I’m currently knocking on the door of his office.
,,Come in!’’ I hear him call out. I open the door and step in. ,,Dr Robbins, nice to see you.’’ He gets up and shakes my hand. ,,What can I do for you?''
,,I wanted to ask you if it is possible that Dr Torres and I can get the two days after tomorrow off.’’ I answer.
,,Am I allowed to ask why?’’ he asks.
,,You are, but you can’t tell anyone! I plan on proposing to her tomorrow.’’ I say smiling. He returns my smile.
,,Well, then I can only wish you luck and two nice days!’’
,,Oh, thank you!’’ I say happily and shake his hand.
,,Have a nice day!’’ he says.
,,You too!’’ I replie and leave. When I walk or better bounce anlong the corridos I run into Mark.
,,Hey AZ, what’s up?’’ he asks.
,,A lot!’’ I answer. I grab his hand and pull him into the nearest on-call room. I stick my hand in the pocket of my lab coat and pull out the box with the ring. I open it.
,,Oh, Arizona, I don’t know what to say! This is so surprising! I am flattered but I can’t do that to Callie!’’ he says with a smirk. I smack his shoulder.
,,Haha! Very funny! Seriously, what do you think? Will she like it?’’ I ask.
,,AZ, she would be happy even if you asked her to marry you with a ring from a bubblegum machine!‘’ he nswers with a serious face. ,,As long as you ARE asking her, she’ll be happy with everything.’’ He pulls me into an embrace. ,,And I am happy for you two!’’ I pull back a bit.
,,She didn’t say yes yet! But thank you, Mark!’’ I say. ,,Now I really need to get back to work. I took two days off for Callie and me so I have to prepare everything here for my absence. I think Karev would mess up everything without any help.’’ I wink at him. ,,Hey, can you do me a favour and keep Calliope away from our house tomorrow? Until 8 pm? I need to prepare evrything.’’
He nods. ,,Of course, I love to help! You know me!’’

When we get out of the room, the box safly hidden in my pocket again, I spot Calliope walking in our direction. When she reaces us she kisses me lightly.
,,Hey guys! What are you two up to?’’ she asks Mark and I look at each other.
,,Nothing!’’ we say in unision.
,,Of course not!’’ she replies sarcastically.
,,I’m gonna leave you two alone now. I hae work to do.’’ Mark says and walks away. Calliope turns to look at me.
,,Ok now, what is it? You guys are up to something. I can feel it.’’ She says and narrows her eyes at me.
,,I don’t know what you’re talking about.’’ I say showing off my dimples. I lightly kiss her, turn around and leave her standing there.
,,I’m gonna find out!’’ she calls after me. I just laugh and continue walking.

I’m currently preparing dinner for us. Everything needs to be perfect. After our little chat yesterday Calliope tried to get me to talk but I remained silent. It was a little hard though when I came home and found her sitting in the kitchen, completely naked. She said I wasn’t allowed to touch her until I had told her everything. But I stayed strong and just smiled. That drove her crazy. And me too, since she really withheld sex from me. But it’ll be worth it tonight! I already set a table in our backyard under the trees and light up some, or better a LOT of candles around it. Music is softly playing from inside where I am now putting our meal on two plates. I’m dressed and ready for her to come home. 7 minute to go. I carry the plates out to the table. Now I only have to wait until she arrives. The moon is shining and the candles light the surroundings. It’s a wonderful summer evening. The ring is still hidden. I put it on the storage under the table. I walk around nervously when I suddenly hear Calliope call out my name.
,,I’m out here!’’ I call. I get into position. When she gets out and spots me standing here surrounded by at least a thousand candles she freezes. I make my way towards her and take her hands in mine. I lean up and kiss her lightly in the lips.
,,Welcome home, beautiful!’’ I whisper against her lips.
,,Arizona, wow, what’s all this?’’ she asks confused. I smile at her.
,,This’’ I gesture to the table and the candles behind me ,,is for you! I know you’re a little stressed these days and I wanted to do something nice for you so you can relax!’’
,,What did I do to deserve you?’’ she sighs and smiles.
,,You are you!’’ I answer and pull her towards the table.

We eat our dinner in silence. She talks about her day and how she grilled Mark to find out what we’re up to. She’s really subborn. When she wants something, she gets it. But now this time. Mark and I didn’t give in, of course. I bet she tried to get him drunk earlier. I have to thank him next time I see him. Without him taking Calliope to Joe’s tonight I wouldn’t have been able to prepare my surprise without her disturbing me. Up to now everything went like I planned it. I’m getting nervous now. The dinner is oer and I have to ask her soon. It’s now or never!

I reach under the table and hide the box in my hand. Then I get up and step in front of Calliope. I take a deep breath.

We’ve been apart for more than one year but this year showed me, that I don’t want to live without you anymore, that I can’t live without you anymore. We made it through somehow and now I’m happier than ever before. You are my life! You are my everything! I never thought we’d end up here when I first kissed you. But here we are. I’m so glad I took a chance on you, a newborn.’’ I chuckle with tears in my eyes. Calliope smiles at me and I see that her eyes are watery. When I get down on one knee and pull the little box out from behind my back, her breath hitches and a lone tear escapes her eye.
,,I can’t imagine my life without you anymore and I don’t want to spend a single day without you.’’ I open the box. ,,Calliope, my love, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?’’
,,Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!’’ she squeals and pulls me up to kiss me passionately ,,I love you! So much!’’ she whispers against my lips I pull back a bit and slide the ring on her finger. Our eyes lock and I can see all of her love for me in hers. It takes my breath away. I hold out my hand.
,,May I have this dance, mylady?’’ I ask with a smile. She takes my hand and we begin a slow dance to the soft music from inside. I wrap my arms around her neck to get impossibly closer to her She pulls her arms around my waist in response and pulls me in for another passionate kiss. I can’t stop thinking how happy I am. This is my future!
