Happy July, all!
It's a fantastic day out there. We just got back from a quick grocery, tea and turnover run across town. My little corner of downtown Milwaukee is a bit more hectic than usual right now due to
Summerfest being in full swing just over a half-mile south of my building. The nice thing about living so close to the fest is that we're still able to hear the sound of 10 bands playing at the same time in close proximity without having to deal with the throngs of drunk and unjustifiably shirtless suburbanites. It's a sound not totally unlike the result of mixing all the crayons together, only it doesn't smell as nice.
Milwaukee has a lot of fests throughout the summer: Pride, Polish, German, Italian, African, Irish, Asian, Indian (the local sort), Arabian; I'm sure there are more I'm missing, but most of the events account to nothing more than the sausage vendor wearing different costumes. None of them are really my thing; although Sanjit and I have been kicking around the idea of using the free Summerfest tickets I got through work to go for a quick funnelcake or two before the crowds get large.
