Just got back from visiting a friend in the hospital.  There are a million wasps out, but not a bee in site.

I have to go out and turn the vegetable bed over and mix in the manure.  I put the plants out on the porch to begin to acclimate.  I'm still not putting the plants in until the first weekend in June.

I bought plants on Saturday, but they stayed in the wagon (moving indoors at night) until Monday. They're now in the ground. I have preliminary ideas on using the plastic I'm taking down from the windows as frost covers if that becomes necessary, but the forecasts are for lows in the 50s for the rest of this week.

Still no bees in sight. No wasps either. We do have ground insects (ants, etc.) but remarkably few flying ones. I'm wondering if the neighborhood association has sprayed early this year.
