P had long lasting tubes put in his ears yesterday. He's been having a lot of trouble hearing for the last 8 months since the last set of tubes came out. These should last at *least*a year, and more likely 3 or 4. Today he thinks EVERYTHING IS LOUD... this is good.
After his surgery, we went down to my mom's. (My mom had Jax and the little practice grandson while P and I were at the hospital and we'd gone down to pick them up.) She got a Wii for Christmas. Most of you know that I object to those stupid video game boxes, especially the games where you shoot people... We've decreed... no video games. They make you into a slug, the only exercise you get is your thumbs, and they don't take a heck of a lot of thought... Read, go outside, play role playing games, play board games or card games or listen to music instead.
They do get to play them other places--
lorilei0120 's house, their friend's house... but I've been pretty hostile to having them in OUR house.
Then I spent an hour trying to win the cow race game on the Wii against P while waiting for M to come home. My arms are sore :) The vegetable brain thing still applies, but at least you get serious exercise :)
Watching a commercial on the Science Channel, today. one of the scientists who won the Nobel Prize for discovering the Quark was describing what it was like to know that there was some weirdness in the data that meant something big. He said "Sitting there, 3:00 in the morning and you know this is big! Who do you call? Do you call your closest collegues in the discovery? Or do you call someone you hate and go heh heh heh. I highly recommend winning a Nobel Prize. Just go for it."
Who would you call?
I think I'd call my husband... then a friend... eventually I'd think about those people in HS who teased me for being a Geek hearing that I'd won a Nobel Prize, but I don't know that I'd call and rub their noses in it...
