Got up early on Saturday because
lorilei0120 had to work early, so I had to pick up Jax. The furnace was out. I looked out the window to make sure the vent wasn't plugged, then power cycled it. It started again. I think it does this when the wind is from a certain direction... I think that causes a backdraft on the vent and it thinks the vent is plugged. Andy found the manual, tho, so next time it happens I'll actually have something to check the stupid error codes on. (E-03 means what, exactly?)
Spent the day futzing around the house (the gas line to the dryer had broken, needed to remove and replace, cleaned the living room and dining room, etc). It's hard with no washing machine... I washed a bunch of dishtowels in the kitchen sink and dried them over the oven handles. Andy took 4 big baskets of clothes to the laundry mat on Friday, and we were in the process of drying them when the dryer broke, so we're still working on those. My niece (home from college) came and got P and took him the entire day-- shopping, out to lunch, looking at various pets that live in aquariums in pet stores... he had fun and his brother didn't have anyone but me and Jax to fight with all day. It was quiet.
Sunday I was not feeling well... very very very tired. My nephew came up, and he and my boys played D&D all day, (and made up some premixed cookies I'd bought) so I napped.
Today I got the kitchen cleaned (boys+cookies=mess). All the boys are home because we're in the midst of a blizzard. My mother seems to be having cabin fever because she just called and invited the kids down to play on her new Wii and said she'd come and get them. I'm still not convinced I should even run over to the grocery store less than a mile away and get a bag of dog food, but she's driving the 6 miles up the hill to get the boys.
Maybe I'll make truffles. I made them last year and put them in "Stress Relief Bags" along with coffee cups, hot chocolate, candles (that I got at the $1 store) and bath salts (that I made) for the teachers. I don't know how the bags went over, but have been asked if I'm making the truffles again :) I made hot chocolate mix the other day... used
Alton Brown's recipe. We didn't like it... I think it needs more chocolate, but maybe it's the powdered skim milk... maybe we should try making it with milk instead.
min8ive used to have a good recipe... do you still?
The boys are gone now, and the house is very quiet. I have to run over to the grocery store at some point and buy the poor dog some food (he's not starving, he's eaten all the leftovers out of the refrigerator and the cookies the boys made yesterday. I do NOT recommend
Nestles Tollhouse Sugar Cookies just roll and bake. Ick).
